Overview

This open green space may be the best evidence that Portland has more park space for its residents than any other U.S. city. The park has a number of notable attractions, including the International Rose Test Garden, Hoyt Arboretum, Japanese Gardens and the Oregon Zoo. Plenty of different spots offer sun, shade, and shelter from the rain and views of the city. There is no charge for the rose garden or the arboretum.

Open Hours

Mo to Su from 05:00 AM to 10:00 PM

What a great day!by Yahoo | 2007-12-06 19:32:17 |

This is a really fun park to spend some time in. I was in Portland for a week while was husband was on business, so I had a lot of time to wander around alone. The park had many different things to do and was easy to get to on the train from downtown. The zoo is great, really good northwest section to see the natives. The Japanese garden was beautiful and just the place to spend a quiet afternoon wandering. We took the train from the zoo over to the rose garden and that was a beautiful ride.

One of few beauties left in Portland, ORby Yahoo | 2006-03-26 04:35:38 |

Scenic drive up the hill. The zoo is superb! Except I can touch the tigers and Bears! Beautiful Peacock roaming the pathway and strode right beside your exciting kids! Yeah, beautiful peacock! Long ago grandma told me if I waved something bright and colorful in front of peacock, it'll compete with me by opening up her tail - so bad I only wear grey clothes today...

We absolutly loved this place. It was beautiful. The kids ages 3 and 6 really enjoyed riding there on the zoo train and back. They played for hours.

I love the Rose and Japanese gardens as well as the HUGE playground. Best of all are the Oregon Zoo and CM2, the Children's Museum. My 4 and 6 year old girls love going to Washington park because it has all sorts of activities for them that are fun and educational. And check out the Max station by the Zoo, it is so cool!

The Portland Zoo is in Washington Park. It is great, not too large so that one can see it all in a short period of time and have time left over for the Rose Gardens.

This is a representation of all that's great about Portland and the Pacific Northwest. What a phenomenal resource, right in the middle of the city. It's Portland's version of Central Park, but done in a much more natural fashion.

Great place to visitby Yahoo | 2005-09-27 00:19:31 |

Our family always enjoy visiting Washington Park with great view, lots of tennis court, rose garden, trails and safe children's play ground all year round.

Check out the Rose Gardenby Yahoo | 2005-09-26 05:20:19 |

The experimental roese garden in Washington Park is a great place for visitors. The plagues with all the Rose Queens' names, the views, the scents, all make for a picturesque and memorable spot. Admission is free, as is parking. In the summer, some nights feature concerts in the bandshell. Take ten minutes or two hours, a walk through the garden will give you a taste of what makes Portland such a delight.
