Overview

This huge park overlooks the Old Town. It is instantly recognizable by the high red reverse pendulum (known as the "Metronome"), which can be seen from the Old Town. Until 1956, a statue of Stalin occupied this place, but times have changed and it is long gone. The view of the Old Town and the Moldau from here is lovely, and one can follow footpaths along the river back to Prague Castle.

Best way to view Prague and to experience czech culture! Letna beer garden located at the top of the hill overlooking the old city all the way to the zizkov tv tower. Great atmosphere, mostly Czechs, some expats, very few tourists. Perfectly Czech, everyone relaxing with friends (and dogs) drinking 25kc Gambrinus. Incredible view in the evening. Kind of tricky to get to via public transportation but well worth it!

The perfect place............at the timeby Yahoo | 2007-12-04 23:12:25 |

Beautiful View...nice big park. After spending 6 weeks in Europe looking for the "right" place and time, the metronome just before sunset, had spectacular views of the old town and was "the" place I proposed to the future X-wife. We climbed over the fence and sat on the concrete wall ovelooking the Vltava watching the sun set. After we climbed over the fence so did others. After I proposed to her and she accepted there was a few people sitting there by us strumming a guitar and singing. Like I said "the perfect place"...it is extremely romantic. Only sitting there and having a nice wine would have made it minimally better. The park lends itself to skating and skate boarding with lots of sidewalks and paths
