Overview

The best sunsets and the best walks can be taken in this beautiful boardwalk, which is the Malecón. It is one of the things that enhances the beauty of Vallarta's Downtown as it runs along the beach. It is especially valuable as many large beach resorts obstruct the views of the ocean to all other tourists. The boardwalk features permanent art exhibits and some of the best places to dine and drink in town, like Carlos O'Brians, La Bodeguita del Medio and El Zoo.

MUST VISIT!by Yahoo | 2008-03-29 20:49:54 |

Loved the Malecon! Lots of fun restaurants right by the water and great shopping. Very clean for all the people. Had fun watching the sand sculpters, they were very talented and made amazing sand sculptures. There is always something going on. Not far is the older shopping center called the "Flea Market". Also fun shopping here. Will definitely go back to Malecon this summer when we go back to PV.

Lots to do on the Maleconby Yahoo | 2007-08-22 21:00:01 |

We have visited PV just about every year and each year we have a great time. This year on the Malecon I noticed a lot more restaurants, clubs and shops have opened up. There was some construction going on like on the old Planet Hollywood restaurant. Lots of shopping and if you go towards the end of the road ask where is the Mercado they have a lot of flea markets there. For you night clubbers check out the ZOO it is always fun there. Carlos Obriens isn't bad and at night Senor Frogs is a lot of fun. As for food they have buffalo wings at Hooters and there is even a Bubba Gumps. PV is more Americanized for the tourists now way more than it was before. I do reccomend to watch the lettuce. It was ok for me but some of the family got sick on it. I guess I must be used to it. They actually sell bottled Arrowhead water there and it wasn't as heavy as the other bottled water. Please make sure to drink water as you will dehydrate as some of us did. Another restaurant is PiPi's the food was good and so were the margaritas a bit pricey though so we will check out some new places next year. I hear Chico's Dive is pretty good so that will be on my to do list. Mismaloya they have a restaurant called EL SET now that was romantic and what a beautiful view. A bit pricey though but well worth it. CYA next year PV I wish I was still there.

Take a little walk....and bring your walking shoesby Yahoo | 2007-03-14 19:05:08 |

If you like to explore and walk I would suggest taking a day to explore the Malecon area. The area is filled with flee market shops, art work, and music down on the square. The best part of this is when you get tired or hungry you can go down to the beach front where there are tons of places to eat or just walk on the beach somewhere and rest. The streets are always lively with the locals and tourists. Beware of the cars though! they don't stop for anybody when crossing the street or crossing an intersection.
