Overview

Despite the numerical name, it has no bearing on its rank as the greatest beach in Qingdao. It is simply a name. Nevertheless, this 580-meter stretch of sand along the northeastern edge of Huiqaun Bay tends to attract large hordes of sunbathers due to its close downtown location. Changing huts, showers and hawking vendors provide everything a good beach needs. Swimmers can splash with confidence thanks to a submerged wall of shark proof netting. Admission is free.

Absolutely packed when we were there in August. Would definitely recommend avoiding the summer months and holidays.

I like the interesting Sand Castle competition every year. However, having to pay to view the sand castles is a bit over the top. Overall a nice place to spend a lazy weekend. Kite flying along the beach is also fun. There are also some water activities like water bike etc. Stay clear during the Chinese holidays though. It can also be packed during Summer.
