Overview

Salisbury is a must-do day trip from Southampton. Easily accessible by train, and perhaps most famous for its cathedral. Also think Golding and The Spire. Be sure to visit the beautifully airy St Thomas' Church, dating from the 15th century. Other attractions include the Playhouse, The Wardrobe and Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum, but there's nothing like a relaxing stroll and a spot of shopping in the modern arcades. Famous residents have included Leslie Thomas of Virgin Soldiers fame and Sir Edward Heath, a former Prime Minister.
