This is Iceland's most reputed dance company, where modern dance embraces the classical form unabashedly. Young dancers are trained by experienced choreographers, and a search is always on for fresh talent. Jazz ballet and troupe dancing are practiced here. The Icelandic Dance Company holds performances at least thrice a year in the Reykjavík City Theatre. They even tour abroad extensively, promoting Icelandic folk dances around the world. The 'Dance Creation Shop' formed in 2004-2005, serves as a platform for independent dancers too. Furthermore, children dance programmes are also organized.
