Overview

Towering above this district is the majestic and green Pedra da Gávea. Come here if you like to hang-glide or watch the daredevils in action. Of course there is a great beach which has become trendy over the past years with surfers and the rich and famous. Contrasting with the wealth is the sight of the Favela da Rocinha, Brazil's largest shantytown, which clings to the unmistakable Morro Dois Irmãos. The area also has a sophisticated shopping centre, elegant buildings and a golf club.
