Overview

The fountain with the four bronze statues of the Najadi by Mario Rutelli stands in the center of the square, bordered by the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and Diocletian's Baths. On the other side there are buildings of various architectural styles. Called Piazza della Repubblica after World War II, its official name is still Piazza Esedra, referring to the central exedra of the Baths. The square is a meeting point for official demonstrations and for receiving visiting delegations from abroad.

AN AMAZING FOUNTAINby Yahoo | 2007-10-10 14:22:40 |

This was also the first fountain I saw during my visit to Rome. It is the 2nd best fountain in Rome in my opinion!! At night, the fountain is magnificent especially with the two 5 star hotels in the background. From the fountain, you can go to the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside you will be blown away by the art work and the huge organ.

An Amazing Piazza, Fountain, and Basillicaby Yahoo | 2007-03-29 21:10:18 |

This was the first place I came across when exploring Rome. It is amazing with a huge fountain in the middle of the Piazza and marble buildings and a basillica around. At night the buildings and fountain are lit up. The fountain has beautiful statues. ALso the basillica there, Saint Mary of the Angels and Saints has gorgeous bronz doors with figures literally coming out of them, and a great assortment of statues and paintings inside. I highly recomend visiting.
