Overview

For a taste of the Old West, complete with dirt and cobblestone streets flanked with wide wooden sidewalks and "Bonanza"-style buildings, visit Old Sac. Tour the historical four blocks in a horse-drawn carriage or take a ride on a riverboat. Bustling with activity, this place offers tourist shops, museums and antique trains. On weekends you can usually hear Cajun, blues, or folk music in one of several saloons and restaurants.

this place is so cool, we went there last summer and we're going back again in july. awesome shopping and dinning. big place too, you'll need at least a couple days to cover it all.

Wasteby Yahoo | 2008-05-12 00:24:50 |

Was the experience fun? Only if you enjoy shop after shop of the same cheesy, schlocky, stuff. (Railroad and Discovery Museum being the exceptions) Would I recommend it to others? *see above paragraph

Fun for Allby Yahoo | 2008-04-27 19:25:57 |

Evangeline's rocks for off gifty items. The Delta King Riverboat can't be beat for atmosphere when it comes to overnight accomodations. Fanny Ann's is great for a night out (loud music, good drinks, crazy cool ambiance!) Good food at Fat City Suspect Murder Mystery Dinner Theater is a total blast Rent a bike and take a ride along the river with the kids!

Old Towneby Yahoo | 2008-02-09 23:19:54 |

We loved this place. We go eveytime we are in town. Not very expensive and great educational experience for the kids. There are actors roaming the dusty streets of the town that are willing to answer questions. If you have been to Philadelphia these actors are just as good. Novelty shops, good food, horse carriage rides, stream boat, and the train ride. You can fill the entire day here. Also for the older kids it's a great place to hear jazz, night clubing and an aray of differents rstaruants.

can't missby Yahoo | 2008-01-20 05:12:39 |

If you're anywhere within 100 miles, you have to go to Old Town and the railroad museum. My wife and I saw it once and can't wait to go back with the grandkids.Must see for the whole family!

Great Funby Yahoo | 2007-11-20 04:06:40 |

its good family fun for all, or just a group of friends. would go there every weekend if i could. The big bike riding shop is excellent. Great food also.

Amazingly fun!by Yahoo | 2007-07-28 18:57:20 |

Don't forget to visit the train museum, have a beer on the Delta King, eat dinner at Fat City and shop for some novelties at Evangeline's! A lot of shop owners will sell you their merchandise for below the sticker price if they see you like it a lot (mostly in the family owned gift shops). Hog's Head pub is not so great, you should probably avoid it (if it's still there).

Authentic New Orleans foodby Yahoo | 2007-06-22 22:45:06 |

My husband and I visited Old Sacramento on 6/18 and loved it. So many places to see and great restaurants. We ate at Chateau New Orleans and had the best Chicken Jambalaya. Before ordering the waiter brought out small dishes to sample. This was a great experience.

Where else can you ride a steam train then walk less than 3 blocks and ride a Paddlewheel River Boat. The train museum is very close by as well. Had a lot of fun.

Interesting Placeby Yahoo | 2007-06-08 15:12:33 |

Like a walk back into time, Old Sacramento was quaint and very charming. Lots of stores to browse through and places to eat. If you are on a diet beware, there were several candy and ice cream stores to tempt you.
