Mo to Su from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PMThis is easily one of the best museums, of any kind, that I have been to in the United States. The locomotive restorations are truly stunning. The exhibits are fun and informative. The museum is worth the time and money. Fun for adults and children 12 and older.
We drove here from Fresno and I really had a great time. This was actually going to be included as a primary source for a topic in my history class for an annotated bibliography, and I'm so glad I chose it. They had a small exhibit on women working on the railroads during WWI while the men were away. Though most of the information could be found in our history text book was the same, it had many other pictures and antique items that were donated to the musem that added to the experience if your into viewing things form history. It was great. Tickets were only 8 dollars for adults and you can retain your ticket, leave for lunch or a spot on the town, and come back on the same ticket that same day. We had a great time. Once I came to the entrance it brought back memories of me in my elementary years when we went there. I remember all of us kids in our classes waiting for the buses and playing and rolling around in the grass area in the front. Great memories! Definately a great place to bring the kids to learn about the history of one of the most sucessful productive business in the United States.
This is a great place if you love trains like we do and remodeled vehicles. It's in expensive and educational for the kids. The staff are helpful and well informed about the muesum, so ask question!
I love the museum. I went there many times as a child and was mesmerized by everything there: the displays; the old trains; the videos. I've been back as an adult and the trains still hold my attention.
this place is great for anyone who likes trains. i took my two year old son and he really enjoyed it. They even get to go on some of the trains and theres one that even feels like its moving.
I loved the place and it was very informative and nicely maintained. My daughter enjoyed every moment of it. Thanks to the museum keepers, as they were very helpful. They made it for the family and do not forget to take your kids.
My son enjoyed the second floor and can stay there all day if you let him. I was a little disappionted in the show was in the theatre. I was hoping for more of a variety. Hopefully next time we go there will be a new show. Other than that the people that work/volunteer there are great books of information!!! my son loves talking to them and they are soo patient with him since he is only nine and his communication skills are a little unclear. He has autism and trains are his number one love.thank you for making his visits wonderful.
I enjoyed both the static and none static displays. The history of Western Railroads, Mexicans and labor shipped in from China was fantastic. Worth the visit if you are 8 or 80
If you ever wanted to actually enter a sleeper or diner car from a train but were not able to here is your chance. The museum is great it is clean and very well taken care of. The staff is courteous and friendly and very knowledgeable about the time period and artifacts they represent. I would highly recommend. Also take the time to go across the street always and ride the old stream train.
I only wish our kids were with us! Our boys are the train buffs, but dad and I had to stop without them. They missed out! Dad and I enjoyed this museum alot. The volunteers were great, and the display of trains were impressive. We loved being able to walk through cars and hear about the history. Can't wait until we go back with the KIDS!
