Overview
When country singer Johnny Cash sang "Folsom Prison Blues," America became familiar with this rough granite-walled state penitentiary. The prison was built in 1880 to handle the overload from San Quentin. Tours of the prison are not offered; however, the displays in the museum offer a realistic view of what life is like on the inside. Especially frightening is the display of weapons prisoners have made from everyday items. You can purchase crafts and other items made by prisoners. Admission is USD2 for persons age 12 and up.yeah like kinda gooodwe went backthere several years ago; going back

we went back in june. we had more time and fully enjoyed the experience. the museum is operated by retired corrections officers. the officer on duty the day we were there had worked at san quenton and folsom. needless to say, he had many stories. we were there for nearly two hours and would go back again. a must see if you're in the sacremto area.
we visited the museum on a whim several years ago. did not have much time, but found it quite inlightening. we will be going back this spring.
