And thank God. Mickey charges $150 bucks to get in! At $9.per it's a little pricy for what looks like a retirement home for animals. If it were $5 i would go more often just to see what happens next. My first view was a building full of Hippo, Giraff skulls and other dead animals in various positions. The other animals were interesting if you could find them in their liberal paradise exhibits where they choose to be seen or not. My thought is that they are so comatose they can't come out of the weeds unless they get a good poke. The Chimps looked rode hard and put away wet. Besides needing walkers and viagra for a wener literally dragging in the dirt, they all had that just throw me a gun so I can off myself look on their face. When I was a kid in Detroit they had the chimps wearing clothes and riding miniture motorcycles. The great apes smoked cigerettes all day that the crowds threw to them until they started getting lung cancer. Now that was a show! These animals are bored! They ought to spice up their lives and put the lion in each exibit for awhile to stir things up. Now that would be a real taste of Africa!
No elephants :( but overall nice areas for the animals. well kept zoo make sure you get a map because you will go in circles! This zoo is right across from Fairy Land and a park with amusment rides! You can buy tickets combined for all 3 if you want to spend the day somewhere.
I loved how it was neet and did not smell like normal zoos. It was healthy, all the animals were sweet...and they all looked happy. i love the food to! it was not junky or trashy at all!
this is my fav place to go its awsome.... every one should go hear its so much fun. i wouldent go during winter becauseits cold and there is alot of walkig. this is m fav place please come.....
I have lived in northern cal. for over 15 years and the first time I visited the zoo was 2 months ago. I don't usually enjoy zoo, and this one was small, yet engaging, and had a wide variety. I appreciated the gift shop which allowed my three small kids to play with, and explore items before purchasing them.
Our group, People with Disabilities did enjoy the Zoo. Our group toured the Sacramento Zoo on July 28th 2007. The price was ok, but We were disappointed in the Penquin's. They seem to be in a very small area that was not large enough for them to swim. We also noted there were no elephants or Ostrich. The refreshments were very expensive and for people with more than 1 child it would not be possible for these families to attend the zoo.
I have seen many better Zoo's but at least this one is close enough and the kids do like it. Let us not forget that one day our children may not have some of these animals around so rather then bash the Zoo I would recommend to enjoy what we have.
I read that the zoo was small but decided that we would give it a shot anyway. First of all the crowds of people in there were unbelievable and unsafe. Most places have as a number cut off as a safety measure but obviously not here. Get the money (8 dollars) and get them in as fast as possible was the impression we got. I couldn't believe that in this day and age animals could still be kept this way. The animals are in very small enclosures a lot with chain link fences and hotwire. Most of the animals just passed back and forth for exercise as there was no room to do much else. Children screamed and teased most of the animals with no one in the park doing anything about it. Even the price Orangutan back was matted in dung. Again where is PETA?
After having visited L.A. Zoo and S.F. Zoo... What a disappointment!! Where are the animals? my toddler loved it because she could walk around and look at people...the penguin exhibit?? come on!!! seriously!! could they have built them a larger aquarium? My goodness...I felt bad for those cute little guys!! It is a waste of money...parking stinks, and the crowd...trash at its prime!! If you want to have a good zoo experience, drive to San Francisco, it is totally worth the effort...
The animals are in small enclosures and sure didn't appear to be very happy. Ok...so they say the giraffe area needs renovation..and it shows..nothing but dirt...the brightest part of the zoo is the flamingo area with pond and foilage. I've been to a lot of zoos all over the world, and Sacramento Zoo is one of the sorriest and saddest I've encountered. :(
