Overview
Only about a 30-minute drive from downtown San Antonio, this hall's tiny stage has hosted more legendary musicians than anywhere else. It is also not uncommon to encounter a film crew using the historic hall as a backdrop for a major motion picture or music video. The hall is basic, with its wooden floor, long bar, cold beer, guys in cowboy hats and girls in tight jeans, but it is also authentic. The building was constructed in the late 1880s as the social center of a small cotton farming community. In the 1970s it was saved from sure decimation by its current owners, and it has since become an institution in Texas music. Past performers have included Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Kelly Willis, Marty Stuart, Joe Ely and many, many more. Cover charges vary.

I go to Gruene at least 3 times a week!Want my son to see this!!
Gruene just has a certain vibe to it that is like no where else. The bands I see there are my favorite especially Zach Walther and the Cronkites (who play every wednesday). I would definitly recommend going to Gruene for anyone who enjoys music and that unique Texas vibe.
I want to go back in the antique store to look for an iron run by gasoline that my grandfather went out to Kansas to sell years and years ago. It has a ball on top to hold the gasoline. My Mother used to throw it out the back door when it got too hot and flaming. I am from The first town in the first State ,Lewes,Delaware. This place is real nice like food and ALL. Now I want to know HOW to get back there.
