Overview
A romantic evening is in store at this homey, yet tastefully decorated small restaurant in an unassuming part of San Diego. Candlelight flickers bathe you with soft light as you sit at your white linen table set with silver and fine crystal. Al fresco dining on the garden patio is also available. Live piano music on weekends lends even more romance to this setting, as do the embers in the fireplace. The cuisine is strictly Italian. Also offered is a full bar, offering over 40 wines by the glass.Open Hours
Mo to Th from 11:00 AM to 09:30 PM, Fr to Sa from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Su from 04:00 PM to 09:30 PMWe visited this restaurant on a Saturday night with our daughter who goes to college nearby. They don't take reservations for less than 10 people so we waited about 40 minutes in the bar which was a little loud, but our dinner later in the dining room was superb. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. My daughter had the veal, my husband had the chicken piccata and I had the cannelloni. All 3 were very good. Freshly baked bread accompanies the entrees. We'll definitely go back again. Its a popular spot so be prepared to wait, but its worth it....a lovely evening. The outdoor patio in the back is a very romantic spot to dine too.
The food is always a safe bet, especially the pizzas and salads. The service ranges from barely moderate to fairly atrocious. The service in the bar is among the worst I have ever experienced. When I go to spend my hard earned money for an evening dining experience, I like to feel that my patronage is appreciated to some degree, especially being a repeat customer as often as I have been. I no longer bother.
Skip lunch and head downtown to Old Venice. Take in the sights before losing 2-3 hours here. The food is fab and the service is unbeatable anywhere in the world.
Great atmosphere, love the food, great service!
Absolutely fantastic...from pasta/risotto to the freshest fish and hand tossed pizza, Old Venice is a Point Loma oasis. We enjoy the atmosphere in the bar, marble as far as the eye can see as well as a fire place that will warm your insides. The staff is most attentive and the sounds in the bar very contemporary. Thank you for all that you do...
Imagine a courtyard, filled with candles. Imagine live music in the bar on week-ends. Imagine high quality Italian food and a decent wine list with friendly, low key staff. It's the perfect neighborhood restaurant for "date night" with your spouse or significant other. Leave the kids at home and remember your honeymoon in Tuscany.....
