Overview
Parkhouse Eatery is so familiar to many local diners that they use a nickname for one of the dining rooms—it is known as 'The Hearth Room'. The building that houses this restaurant was formerly a thrift shop, but has been renovated into a lively local cafe. Available seating areas include an outdoor garden patio (with a large clock, green umbrellas and tall trees), the front dining room, as well as the Hearth Room, hosting a wood-burning fireplace. The menu is vast and rather unusual. Try the Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings or Pan-Roasted Mussels.Open Hours

"Tony", WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! "Business 101" Myself and my friends "tried" to dine at your establishment last night for the "Dine for Life" venue. A great cause and the reason we came out! However our experience literally went to the dogs... no pun intended, and the evening was cut short, (not really, as the service was so very slow). Considering the Caesar salad was horrible, (how can anyone mess up a salad?), I am a little relieved that we decided to depart before the entrees arrived. I had expressed extreme dismay at the fact that 2 very large slobbery Bull Dogs were placed next to us on the patio. They received their own chairs to sit in and were "propped up" AT the table and the wait staff were petting and languishing over them. One of my dinner guests was so disgusted that he opted to switch chairs, so that his back was facing them. However, he was still uncomfortable. I informed the hostess that if indeed the dogs were actually fed ON the table, that there would be a problem. Indeed 40 minutes later, they WERE served ON the table, their owners feeding them scrambled eggs ON your establishment's plates and a fork that is to be used later by one of your patrons. I was disgusted to the point of losing my appetite. My point..... It was expressed from the "Get Go", that we were uncomfortable with the dogs in such close proximity to us. I am glad that you are a "Dog Person", as you stated, however, some people are not. I myself love and have many animals, including a Ball Python. May I bring my Python in? If you knew there might be a problem and you indeed intended on serving dogs at a table that is intended for humans, in a public restaurant, knowing fully well that patrons had expressed some concern.... why waste our time? Why not inform US that WE were not welcome in your establishment and that the DOGS would be served eating at/on the table? This way we could cut our losses and depart the premises. I was basically told to "deal with it" by yourself and that the canine's owners were good customers. You then very rudely stated "it is not illegal", (something I never even brought up), and that you're a "dog person". You were unempathetic, ungracious and rude in your response. I am a huge believer in customer service and NO....the customer is not always right. However, some diplomacy is required in these instances. Something you GREATLY lacked. AGAIN, we expressed dismay VERY early on and you chose to skirt the issue. Though not illegal to bring an animal to an "Al Fresco" dining establishment, most pet owners will show some decorum by restraining their animals.... not allowing them to actually sit in a chair, rest their heads ON the table, eat off the establishments Plate-Ware, and then feed them directly from the restaurants utensils. As well, I do not think the health department would think this such a great idea. Do you? SO, that being said.... why did you not offer us another table away from the animals as a simple solution? "Business 101". That being said, the video and stills I took of the incident are worth more than a thousand words. It really is too bad when owners of business's become "So full of themselves" that they do not require additional patrons. In addition, I would like to state that your pompous attitude and management style is truly "For the Dogs". Regards Michael F. Kelly
