Overview

San Diegans of Italian ancestry are working hard to restore and revitalize this seaside district just off downtown San Diego and the results are fabulous. Visitors will enjoy the plethora of Italian markets and bakeries, may watch a game of bolla at the local park or light a candle at the Our Lady of the Rosary Church where Italian fishermen of San Diego's once-massive tuna fleet used to seek blessings. In October, a three-day festival brings 50,000 visitors to the area. Credit card acceptance varies.

A Wonderful Time!by Yahoo | 2008-08-14 16:24:08 |

My wife and I recently vacationed in SD and enjoyed a fantastic lunch in the "Little Italy District" at a cafe called Boun Appitete. Everything from the service, food, and drink were great! Can't wait to go back.

Great atmosphere--best little coffee place in SD--Italia!! Great restaurants and desserts. All prices--Especially like the outdoor dining so many of the eateries offer. Just love it.

come for the annual festival!by Yahoo | 2007-04-30 01:30:04 |

i love the charm of this place. it's like it's own little italian village right in the heart of san diego. during the annual italian festival, there is sidewalk painting and street food and crafts vendors. lots of live music on 4 stages. really fun event! and the tree lighting ceremony at christmas time is a nice time to visit as well.

It's home. You can find fresh Italian bread & cookies

Euro-like Get-Away!by Yahoo | 2006-11-18 05:35:20 |

Little Italy has the Mediteranean climate along with the atmosphere. The restaurant experiences are economical and flavorful! Romantic ocean strolls are a mere two blocks away and the convenient trolly system gives easy access to other downtown areas. I spend about two weekends a month visiting Little Italy.

Greatest Scicilian Bakery...by Yahoo | 2006-08-30 23:36:15 |

... that is in the US! You have got to stop by the Solunto Bakery in Little Italy- it's off of India St. The owner is from Scicily- and the bread is so awesome and so fresh! It truly tastes like the same bread you can find in Palermo and Bagaria Scicily! Also, the little shop inside the pizza place is really good- all imported stuff from Italy. It brings back many wonderful memories! Ciao!!!

I LOVED IT THEREby Yahoo | 2006-07-19 01:10:15 |

I went to Little Italy from LA. We moved from Italy about a year and a half ago. When we heard about Little Italy in San Diego was having a BIG party during the World Cup we drove down to San Diego. When we arrived we checked into a lovly hotel a block away from the festival at the Harborview Inn & Suites. The hotel was lovly and great price. At the festival they had HUGE TV's, about 3 I think showing the WorldCup. It was a BLAST. There was Italian food stands ALL OVER and ALL the resturants were all open. About 5000 people showed up that day, and i heard they did this during the Olypimcs. ONLY if I knew. There is always NEXT year.

Great Italian food; especially Pizza!by Yahoo | 2006-05-25 21:50:54 |

Many excellent Italian restaurants and I truly enjoyed the Pizza and huge lasagna at Flippi's Pizza Grotto. You can walk to most all with a easy block and a half. Also, just 2 1/2 blocks from the fun San Diego light rail trolley stop. A definite not to be missed in beautiful San-D-Ego.
