Overview
This world-famous establishment is clearly no ordinary zoo. Walk or ride a double-decker bus throughout this expansive park, home to over 4,000 rare and exotic animals exhibited in beautiful garden habitats. More than a park, San Diego Zoo is a major research facility although it is cleverly disguised with entertaining shows and inspiring exhibits like Polar Bear Plunge and Hippo Beach.Upcoming Events Near San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo was fun! There was lots to do & see. If you get tired, go see a show with animals. The zoo is very well maintained. Ride the Skyfari...it's great! The only thing is that snacks & drinks were expensive, but one should always expect that when going to zoos or amusement parks. Overall, a wonderful & memorable experience.
Man o man. In this zoo, you have to walk up hills for like an hour. Its located in the worse place ever. The animals may have been good, but I got tired just by trying to go to them.
I really liked this zoo! It was huge, so we didn't get to see all of it, but we got got to see alot of different animals, and the staff was nice! We had a good experience there, I would reccomend it for people with children from maybe.. 2 - 10 of age. If they like animals, I really would reccomend it. But I was kind of hoping for somthing a little more.
Forever I have heard that the San Diego Zoo is one of the best zoos in the world, so the hype was high. Unfortunately, the zoo does not live up to the hype. It is good, but I find it hard to believe this is one of the best zoos in the world. PROS: The panda exhibit was wonderful! The orangutans were fun and extremely active. Polar bears (2 of them) were active and giving a show. The giraffes were able to be seen up close. CONS: If you are a cat lover you are going to be extremely disappointed. All of the cat exhibits had only 1 cat, most of which could not be seen or seen only in part as they sat in a secluded corner. I was surprised that so many exhibits - lions, tigers, leopards, mountain lions - had only one animal. There were also quite a few exhibits where no animals could be seen at all. I understand that captive animals can be uncooperative, but I was surprised at the lack of animals.
This is a nice zoo, but not better than other zoos. We walked some and rode the double decker bus. The skyfari was alot of fun also and a must do. However as far as the animals are concerned, it's no different. It's advertised as a world famous zoo, but I don't think it is any better than other zoos for the animals. Their homes were nothing better than the other zoos I've visited. The pandas were one of my favorites. The lady who was sitting beside the panda cages telling us about them said that San Diego was one of only 3 places in the U.S. to see pandas. She said Washington DC and Atlanta are the other two places. But Memphis TN is another zoo with Pandas. Check out their website. The food is really good and the acrobatic show at the end of the day was awesome. Disney quality.
I absolutely LOVE San Diego and the San Diego Zoo is my most favorite place in the United States!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO BE THERE AGAIN
The San Diego Zoo is great! the Panda, the koala bear is so cute. must visit. it took me two days to visit the whole park its just too big and its only $10.00 dollar difference from a single day ticket to a two days ticket..other then these cute bears there are so many extincted or weird looking animals..very interesting, entertaining and very educational....
We went on a rainy day! It still was good, we had a great time! The bus tours were fun, make sure that you get the best value ticket. We actually got the go sandiego card and it was well worth the money! We saved tons!!! Had a great time at the zoo, go in the mornings for the best experience
Comment about the $35 ticket price vs FREE tickets for the St. Louis Zoo. BULLETIN: The St. Louis Zoo is in ST. LOUIS!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, stop whining about the hills. If you people would get more exercise and stop filling your faces it wouldn't be a problem. I'm 70 and had no trouble at all.
this is the best zoo i have ever been too, go, you won't be disappointed! Very nice staff, very clean park, and lovely animals, be prepared to spend the who day, it is that big!!!
