Overview
This is a living museum in Golden Gate Park that is home to a wide array of rare and exotic plant life from around the world. Visit the 70-acre garden and explore seemingly endless trails past duck ponds, an arbor, herbs, flowers, blooming trees and redwoods, and smaller, specialized gardens with names like the Garden of Fragrance. Also on hand is an education center that provides different gardening, horticulture, botany, and environmental classes for adults and children, plus a horticulture library and bookstore. The public is allowed to stroll through the garden anytime, although they are asked to keep on the paths.Open Hours
Mo to Fr from 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM, Sa to Su from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PMVery beautiful place with lakes, and tons of plants and trees to admire. There are paths throughout that make for very nice walks in nature. It was free to enter so that made it an excellent value.
Strybling has an amazing and diverse array of plants from all over the world. Amazing that San Francisco, with its unique climate can grow all of these! My favorites were the Succulent Garden and Perennials Gardens. This place is *huge*. So if you want to take it all in, be prepared to spend seveal hours and pack some food!
I went here with my friend for the first time, and it was amazing. We saw such incredible plants, from all around the world. It's free to get in with a large grassy area surrounding a pond if you want to have a picnic. There are so many little areas, though, I'm sure I still haven't seen everything after going only twice. We lost track of time and ended up leaving way later than we intended. A wonderful day activity in San Francisco.
