Love the San Jose Quilt Museumby Yahoo | 2007-12-14 21:34:40 |

Some time ago I live in San Jose Ca (age 24 then now I'm 53) , in fact just up the street from The San Jose Quilt Museum when it was located on 1st street. Having moved away since then ,I've yet got to go back and see the their new home and can't wait. I have always been inspired by Quilts and making them at an early age (5) by hand. I have never been to a quilt show in my life leave alone a quilt museum but always wanted to. So one day I derided to drop in since having to walk just up the street was easy and I had time off from work that day. As I walk in I didn't know what to expect.I was amazed of what I'd seen .After seeing all the wonderful quilts ,meeting some very nice people and ready to leave for home. I just had one thing on my mind, that I wish I could learn to make such a wonderful quilt too and to teach others perhaps. My quilting was limited to simple blocks nothing fancy at the time, but I was hungry for more. To make a long story short, since that time on in between jobs ,getting married, having four wonderful children, My dream came from trough. I now teach others quilting, run a guild and still learning more. Also teaching my grandkids and daughter in laws how to quilt in between our already busy lives. Even for a small fee for a show is worth every cent to me.For no price tag can ever measure up to all the love and time that went in to making the quilt.I hope others will be inspired by you like I was. Thanks San Jose Quilt Museum for giving me the little spark I needed in my life to make me what I'm today and in helping my dream come trough. Ms E Acosta

    Very Smallby Yahoo | 2007-02-10 18:13:13 |

I agree that this shoulc be called a gallery. The exhibits are constantly changing, so check ahead about what is showing. The place is one small gallery and you can view everything in ten minutes, even if you stop to read the info cards and study the pieces. There were only 8 quilts on display the day I went. The admission is now $6.50. I was disappointed. I went to a local quilt store and saw more.

    A gallery is not a museum.by Yahoo | 2006-09-07 01:17:46 |

We went into the museum expecting to see lots of different things, especially Quilts. After paying $5.00 a piece and pumped the meter in front with 2.00 of change for two hours of parking, I was expecting to see something that would at least an hour to view. The lady at the desk was very nice and friendly. We saw four or five quilts at the entrance hall. We went into the only gallery and saw an exhibit on a textile artist. It was interesting but not to many pieces to see. I went back to the lady at the desk and ask if I had missed a gallery or something. It took us all of ten minutes to see the whole "Museum" and that included looking in the gift shop. It was definately not worth the money.
