10000 People Getting Massagesby Yahoo | 2009-01-06 19:18:11 |

I recently made a visit to Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe (January 2, 2009) expecting first class service. Instead, I got the worst massage experience I've ever had. 1) First, to get anywhere on the complex, you have to walk everywhere outside, in only a robe, uphill, in freezing cold weather. 2) Second, I booked a 80 minute massage a recieved a ~40 minute massage. 3) Third, the massage therapist, Frank, spent no time on my hands, feet, or front side of my body. He only massaged my back, the back of arms and the back of my legs. 4) Fourth, when I finished I brought this to the attention of the supervisor (who was on break and I had to wait for 15 minutes to show up) and nothing was done to compensate my horrible and expensive experience. 5) Finally, the place was like a "meat market" of people. It felt more like a cattle farm than a peaceful place to relax. With so much competition in Santa Fe and surrounding area for Spas, I recommend skipping this high dollar, poor service, terrible experience place!!!

Not worth your money!by Yahoo | 2008-11-19 19:09:08 |

We went to Ten Thousand Waves to celebrate our anniversary. This place is distasteful. The men in the shower and around the spa were exhibiting unacceptable behavior. He was very upset and it spoiled the entire experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Disaster in 2007by Yahoo | 2008-06-17 19:00:47 |

This used to be my favorite spa until last year - as you would expect, spa treatments here cost alot and the spa itself is beautiful. I have visited this spa for 8 years until 2007 - my experience last June turned me off 10K Waves forever! I go to the spa to relax, rejuvenate and refresh my body and spirit....imagine my dismay at finding a squealing baby in a soggy diaper in the women's hot tub! When I complained at the front desk at the end of my treatment, the rude cashier looked at me as if I had two heads and said that they have had a policy of allowing children in the spa "for some time." I told him that if that is the case, I'll have to find another spa! I am not opposed to a "mom & baby night" at the spa, just let the rest of the customers know ahead of time so our spa visit is not ruined for lack of information!

We are going back!by Yahoo | 2008-02-10 13:10:37 |

This was the best vacation we have ever had! The staff was excellent and the atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing. We are taking our son this time.

Ten Thousand Waves on a Snowy Nightby Yahoo | 2008-01-02 18:45:05 |

A spectacular location and what a perspective from the high hills of Santa Fe! I arrived there the night when gentle and mild snow began...what a sensational sight. The spa offers a very different experience. The staff is helpful and the offering of services is great. I have had better and finer massage services elsewhere, however. The massage therapists work very consciously to "the clock" and appear to be uptight and without a natural rhythm during spa treatments. Lots of time is spent sitting around, or walking around in the "cold' with a skimpy kimono robe on. Everyone is not into being "communal" or "exposed"....more emphasis and concern is needed on personal privacy, regard for " human space" and less congestion in the reception area. The reception area reminds one of a high school locker room experience. Staff is polite and professional, however. Ten Thousand Waves is a spa that should be experienced, be prepared to return to the days of "Woodstock".

Great place to Stayby Yahoo | 2007-06-29 13:42:51 |

So quite and nice stayed in the Tsuki, huge 1100 sq feet, with a nice little garden and a easy uphill walk to the Spa. Great staff checked out early at 0700am and the desk was not open until 0815 so be aware. The place is so quite and peaceful at 8000 feet so cool and nice even in the summer. Only a short ride to downtown and plaza 10 min, and close as you will get the the Ski area

snobby customer serviceby Yahoo | 2005-11-15 07:51:32 |

i had booked a couples massage, and was told that we'd only be able to do this with their "masters" (the more expensive masseuses). so i booked it. later called back to see if they could give us one male and one female masseuse, and they said no. i asked for any other openings for the next 5 days, and the cust serv rep was short with me and said there weren't any other times open. when i said that i'd have to cancel, he said "fine" and hung up on me. strange. subsequently, a few of my local friends have said that their massages are over-rated and that the downtown day spa is a better deal with better massages.

Ten Thousand Waves is set in the side of a hill just beyond Santa Fe's hustle and bustle and has a very soothing Zen-like feel. Take a break from art gallery hopping (or skiing in the winter) and enjoy the beauty and serenity of one of Ten Thousand Waves' hot tubs or sign up for a message with one of its outstanding massage therapists. If you don't want to leave, stay the night in one of its rooms, complete with adobe-style fireplace, cedar oil shampoo and coconut soap.
