Overview
Puerto Chico (Small Port) is one of Santander's landmarks. Right in the heart of the city, beside the bay and running parallel to Calle Castelar, it joins up with the old Dársena de Molnedo (Molnedo Docks) built in 1884, which used to be the center of the city's fishing industry. Nowadays, Puerto Chico is only used for mooring recreational boats. From the quay you get wonderful views of the bay to the south, Calle Castelar to the north and Dique de Gamazo (Gamazo Jetty) to the east. Santander's Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria (exhibition center) and the Centro de Alto Rendimiento de Vela (sailing school) are located on the Dique de Gamazo.
