Overview
Situated on the main street of Providencia alongside many other restaurants, pubs and cafés, this traditional Chilean bar was opened in 1990 by the Cicali Genoese family. Popular with Chilean artists and intellectuals, as well as foreigners, the bar is decorated in a rustic style with antique photographs, furniture and paintings. A terrace facing the street is a popular spot to have a beer alfresco. There is also a huge selection of Chilean wines and liquors and a diverse menu featuring soups, sandwiches, pastas, fish dishes and grilled meats.Open Hours
Mo to Sa from 12:00 PM to 03:00 AMThis one is my absolute favorite in Santiago. If you can, get the lasagna, some of the best in the world and don't forget to wash it down with a jara de sangria.
I'm a chilean who travels to Chile from the San Francisco, Bay Area twice a year. My first time at Liguria (March 2000) was fantastic. I enjoyed the food, the wine list and even the service. During the last six years my experience has been both good and bad. Nevertheless, last January I had a terrible experience with the food and the service. One day I ordered chuletas (pork shops) and they came overcooked and cold. I told the waiter that the Chuletas were terrible and that I wasn't ready to try other items from their menu anymore. In other words this was the final chance that I was given Liguria. I was ready to find another place. Obviously, and this is so chilean, I got charged for the dish eventhough I didn't even touch the plate. Overall I think that Liguria is very pretentious and they are way out of their leage when its come to food and service. If you want to see important people and to be seen, Liguria is the place. Now, if you want to have a good meal and fairly decent service, go somewhere alse. I am sorry I don't have any suggestions. Unfortunally Chile is not very well know for its food and service. Now if you ever want to come to the Bay Area let me know I have some outstanding places to recomend.
Great place. Patrons & staff are friendly & enjoyable. Good food, drinks & atmosphere Went there 3 times during my 8 days in Santiago. Outside seating is good when weather/temp permits, as with all Chilean places, everyone smokes. Definitely will go back, when in Santiago again.
I love the atmosphere. If you really want to know a classic chilean spot in Santiago you have to try liguria. The food is great. I tried the pollo al pil-pil and the solomillo. Their wine selection is pretty good too. This is the place where actors, business people, musicians and students meet.
Bar Liguria is a nice place to either sit outside and chat and listen to music or sit inside and read what's hanging on the walls. I studied in Santiago for a semester and Bar Liguria was one of my favorite places to visit..at least twice a week. They do have drink specials and I highly recommend the caipirinha and beer specials.
