Overview

The grounds of this park were obtained by the canalization of the Mapocho River in 1891. In 1900 the administrator Enrique Cousiño began the construction of the Forestal Park with his fellow countryman Jorge Dubois. Many monuments, sculptures, and species of trees are found here. It is a must on Sundays for the people of Santiago, who come here for their weekly stroll. It is especially pretty in autumn and a blessing on hot summer days. It is an oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle and noise of the large city.

Hip place to be atby Yahoo | 2005-12-31 19:33:01 |

I love Parque Forestal. after living in New York for a few years, this is just a perfect spot with a little taste of that laid back free attitude you can find around Christofer street. Great coffee places get busy every evening, there's also good restaurants for all pockets, museums, and of course the park! lovely scenery and beautiful trees, for a quiet stroll at dusk and earlier. Not recommended to go alone to the park at night like in every other park I guess.
