Many years ago, I lived in the DR. I always frequented Vesuvio on Tiradentes, and actually got to know the waiters, the MaitreD, some of the staff, and the cajera (cashier). They were ALWAYS friendly, the atmosphere was comfy and cozy, away from all the street riff raff and noise, and the food was always impeccable, fresh, consistent, and tasty. I would frequent the place for an antipasto lunch (student budget), but was always treated like royalty. I have seen 3 actual makeovers of the place (and was quite sad when they would be closed for a few weeks to re-do the place). Even tho their english isn't the best, they would always make you feel at home... one of the former waiters (who I got to know very well) said this very sincerely (which seemed to be the motto of the Bonarelli family).... "Es tu casa".

the service treats you like family and what you get is too much for the price you end up paying...ideal for business lunches or family reunions...every time i arrive to santo domingo this place is a must

i order a pasta made with squid ink and filled with lobster and a zaffron sauce, it was superb, the best pasta dish i have ever taste. highly reccomended

This place had a makeover about 2 years ago, and it's been a well deserved one, it's the place to go for a powerlunch and family dining, it's in the naco district. They served mainly italian dishes with some international dishes. Its brother restaurant vesuvio malecon it's on george washington av.
