Declared a tourist attraction in 1970, the floors of these caves are filled with beautiful circular lakes fed by the Brujuelas, a subterranean river. The sulfurous waters of the first lake, discovered in 1916, are only 20 feet deep. The second, named La Nevera or "refrigerator" in English, drops to 15 degrees centigrade. The Women's Lake, the third and smallest, is warm and shallow. A fourth lake, measuring 300 meters deep, is named Los Saramagullones after a species of ducks that inhabits it.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PMI liked the natural stage in which is preserve and well guarded to keep its originality, and didn't like that I couldn't swim in it, but its understandable.
It's so nice a cool down there and it's like transporting yourself to a place where pirates used to hide out. The size of the underground lakes is surprising and they are SO clear and deep. It's breathtaking, truely.
It was really beautiful and a wonderful memory for our family. I know that we will most certainly go back in the near future. It is a hidden gem. It didn't have a "tourist" feel which we liked.
it was a great experience.I would definitely recommend it...It was worth the money and every body is nice... cant wait to go back and visit other places...
i did like the overhaul, great views, clean but i guess some lighting of this place would add more to such great grouts, when going there be aware of the guides!!!!first you do not need one for such small place,if you feel you want one to translate something,do not give him more than 5 us dolares for a group or a single person(or just give 100 dominican pesos.
IT WAS A VERY EXCELENT PLACE TO VISIT THERE. THE PEOPLE IS FREINDLY AND KINDLY, I LOVE IT. THAT PLACE WAS GORGEOUS. IF YOU PLANING TO HAVE A VACATION, THIS IS THE COUNTRY YOU SHOULD GO, YOU WOULD LOVE IS GREAT.
i heard beach from there is very blue very beautiful that why i wish i go there.
Santo Domingo is in the Dominican Republic. It is a beautiful city! The people are friendly. It is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been! Santo Domingo has many, many places to visit. The city is full of history. I visited a castle, a cathedral, and beautiful beaches! The cuisine is also excellent! The weather is gorgeous! The ocean is probably the prettiest color that you have ever seen! The sand is pearl white! I recommend this vacation for anyone and everyone!
If you miss this spot, the good news is that you didn't miss much. It's a nice walk down below to see some calm underground waters. It's historically significant due to the factg that the native Tainos took their last stands against the Conquistadors before they got wiped out as a race. The boat ride over to the other side of the water to see the additional eye (ojo) is all right but they should clean the fourth ojo. Floating bottles and used tires were not so inspring.
It was every nice to go down there but it was every hot.
