Overview

The Boar's Head claims to be the oldest restaurant on River Street, and is located in a building that was once a cotton warehouse, like most of the buildings in the area. Exposed brick walls decorated with a collection of gold plates and hunting trophies create a cozy atmosphere. From a seat at the bar, or on the small patio, patrons can look out over River Street and the Savannah River. Kitchen specialties include crab cakes and she-crab soup, and the bar recommends Bumbo Punch, a special rum punch.

Good Valueby Yahoo | 2007-11-26 03:02:03 |

We regularly visit the restaurant and always find a charming atmsphere. The service is outstanding as is the view of the river. My favorite is the grits and shrimp dish. The steak is a good choice. One member of our party has enjoyed the chicken alfredo pasta dish several times. The wine selection is more than adequate and the staff is capable of quality recommendations. The value is high and fairly priced.

Wonderful lambby Yahoo | 2004-11-13 19:07:02 |

Great place for lamb or steak. We always eat there when we visit Savannah. Best to reserve a table close to the river. Good service as well.

BOAR'S HEAD TAVERN & GRILLby Yahoo | 2004-10-27 18:47:08 |

We had lunch in this charming restaurant. We sat at a table in the corner looking out the window at a view of the river. The atmosphere was old charm. The service was great. Take your time to enjoy the ambiance and the food. I ordered the harvarti cheese in a pastry puff topped with a raspberry sauce. I have not found this dish any other place. I can still taste this wonderful dish in my mind when ever I think of it. It was our first restaurant to eat at when we arrived, and I think it was one of the best during our stay.
