Before my husband and I got married we went here and I LOVED IT!!! It was interesting for adults and children and includes plenty of hands-on fun! When I have children I will take them there some day. The only disappointing thing was that the bike wasn't open.
I think that the Pacific Science Center is definetly a place you should consider visiting when you go to Seattle. Not only is it a lot of fun for the kids, but it is very educational. The whole family will have fun there. Was it worth the time & money? I would say yes. It is very interesting, and many of the exhibits there are hands on. It offers a new approach on learning for kids of all ages, and adults too. I found myself wishing i had visited the Pacific Science Center sooner. I would say if you are in Seattle, the Pacific Science Center is a very fun thing to do.
If you have been to a place like Portlands OMSI you will be quite disapointed ,it doesnt even hold hold a match. A city like Seattle should have a World class science center and this is not one... very, very sad.
Being from Houston, seeing a Roach is nothing, but I had to laugh when I saw they had them on display! 1st time we went, we had a great time. The Titanic Exhibit a few years ago was wonderful. Imax films always fun. Lots of hands on stuff for kids - even our teenagers enjoyed it. Make time to go.
I've been going to the Seattle Science Center since I was a little kid. First on school trips, then of my own accord with my extensive family. The Science Center is a true delight. The exhibits are fun and entertaining, and the IMAX movies, the butterfly exhibit, and the planetarium are especially fun. No matter your age, the Science Center is a fun place to visit. I would reccomend going with children, as their personal commentaries and antics make it all the more fun! Enjoy!
For our daughter's fourth birthday we took her to the Pacific Science Center. If we had liked it, we were thinking it would be fun to get an annual pass. Unfortunately the museum itself is severly run-down, and the number of non-functioning exhibits is really shameful. The very first thing we did was twist a dial that was supposed to make a dinosaur's jaws or head move, but it was broken. From there on many, many of the little buttons, dials, and other interactive bits were either clunky (nearly broken) or completely dead. No signs announce these problems as you wander through this sadly neglected, multi-room space. The maintenance of the building itself looks like no one has cared for years; one or two dedicated people could probably clean up a lot of the scuffs, scrappy tape and knocked-about exhibits in less than a week. There is no cohesive feel to this large, empty, darkish blast from the past of a museum. Visually there is a lot of dead space and dull theming. The newer butterfly exhibit, while small and hot (for the butterflies to thrive - you should wear a t-shirt), is well worth visiting.
Everytime we go, we learn something new. An ever improving and changing way to experience all the sciences at any age. The Pacific Science Center is a treasure!
The science center is great. We all enjoyed it a lot. The butterfly room was wonderfull, lots of beautiful buterfly's. The IMAX movie was good. My son liked the video game history room. We all liked the test your body area. It was well worth the visit.
The Pacific Science Center has something for everyone. The daughter really liked it, and we made a half day of it. There is informtaion available on numerous subjects, not only for kids, but adults as well. My wife and I got to see our selves as weather forecasters and laughed about it most of the day. The IMAX theater would have been great, but my daughter would not have enjoyed it do to her young age. There are science projects for all ages to play with and a lot of interesting interactive stations to keep you interested in moving from room to room. I wish that we would have had more time to enjoy the center. We would return in a heartbeat........
My four year old daughter and I spent the day at Pacific Science Center. It was about half the size of the Omniplex in Oklahoma City and didn't have anything my four year old hadn't already seen somewhere else. Definitely wasn't crowded (weekday in November) so if you don't like a lot of people that could be a good break from the rest of Seattle. It was okay and I'm glad we went, but we live 50 miles from there and won't be making another trip. If you are in the Seattle area looking for an indoor place to spend the day this is worth the admission price, but don't drive a long distance for it.
