Overview

This two-and-a-half-mile strip of sandy beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area, and it was also where Seattle's first non-Native American settlers spent their first winter. In warm weather, Alki Beach is crowded with sunbathers, swimmers and families. For athletic types, there are volleyball games. The beach is also lined with a path, great for walking, jogging, biking and skating. Across the street there are several cafes and restaurants where you can stop in for a bite after a day in the sea air.

Best kept secret of Seattleby Yahoo | 2008-05-07 23:42:51 |

Our family used to go to Alki for weekend picnic during summer, best time to get there is around 10:00 AM to ensure you get a parking spot and good picnic area. Alki has amazing view! Plenty of local restaurants that can satisfy your hunger. Alki has excellent trails for bike riding, walking, roller skates, and other fun activities. The 4th of July fire works show and Blue Angels Air Show were always Awesome to watch at Alki, and best of all it's free...so bring your RV, Camper or car, along with your family, friends and I promise it's going to be the best time ever!

ANOTHER STATUE OF LIBERTY!!!!!??!??!?by Yahoo | 2007-11-10 09:17:24 |

This is a great environment. I was there over a week and no complaints. Great view from Alki. Peaceful friendly people. The statue was great. The firework's display is one to remember forever! Who knew they had two statue's of liberty's? One of the east coast and one on west. and they both face each other? Great great place to go!

Nice Views Of Seattle!!by Yahoo | 2006-09-03 19:40:59 |

I live in West Seattle. Alki is a nice place to walk or dine. The food along Alki is pretty good and it is fun to take out lunch from one of the many cool restraunts and, on a nice day, eat it on the beach. I don't care much for it on the weekends, too many crowds of greedy people and stupid drivers. Walking along Alki in the evening is wonderful and refreshing. Parking is a problem on busy weekends. There is a boat that takes you from West Seattle to the Seattle waterfront. It is fun and will save you on parking in the expensive lots downtown. You just have to experience Alki for yourself and see what you think, don't always go by reviews, this review and all others are just one persons opinion. You must decide what you like and don't like! Enjoy and have fun!!

Cruzin' Alkiby Yahoo | 2005-09-27 01:30:05 |

Alki Beach is the hotspot in West Seattle on Fridays and Saturday nights. People get in their hot rides and cruz up and down the Alki strip, showing off their wheels and bumpin' their tunes. It's great place to meet people, rollar blade during the day, sun bathe, walk the dog, or just stroll down the beach talking to a friend. There's quite a few little restaurants along the Alki to eat at. Lots of great houses to look at. It's very pretty and relaxing place.

great view of seattle downtownby Yahoo | 2005-08-08 21:45:37 |

Alki beach is a not really a big beach, but it provides an awesome view of the Seattle downtown. The beach itself simply teems with life with people playing volleyball, skating or simply walking. There are plenty of restaurents around for dining and relaxation. A perfect way to spend a quiet evening in the compnay of loved ones or friends. I believe there is also a ferry to tae people to downtown Seattle ans back.

A great place for a walk, bike ride or roller bladingby Yahoo | 2005-07-21 20:30:41 |

Alki is one of Seattle's real treasures. The views are abundant and spectacular. The city has made a real effort to make this area pedestrian-friendly, and based on the throngs of people you'll find there on any given summer's evening, it's apparent everyone else thinks so too. There are lots of restaurants along the path leading up to the beach, and though several of them range toward expensive, there's plenty to be had if you only have a few bucks and don't mind your food deep fried. You can have an outdoor fire as long as you bring in your own wood and use one of the designated fire pits. It's also a nice place to go people watching.
