Gas Works Park is an example of urban renewal at its best. Take an old gas-processing plant that has outlived its usefulness, and transform it into something everyone can enjoy. Located on the north shore of Lake Union, the park has excellent water views and a spectacular, unobstructed view of the city skyline. It is a popular spot for concerts, bikers, kite flyers, families on picnics and just about everyone else. This is also a prime spot from which to view the Fireworks on the Fourth of July.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 04:00 AM to 11:30 PMA beautiful park and a great place to go on a sunny day. Don't forget the Ballard Locks nearby too. Only bad thing is how the bums are allowed to stay and urinate and defecate all over inside the structure. The park is a beautiful setting.
We spent an afternoon here and found it to be a great green space where people come to fly kites, walk dogs, have BBQ's and even (on our trip) have their wedding pictures taken ! It gives a great view of Seattle and is a really unique park.
We thought this place was amazing. Great view of Seattle from the park. Nice place to sit on the grass. There were a good amount of people there, but not so many that it was crowded and annoying. It's neat seeing the huge old plant in the middle of the green, grassy park. Watching the sunset from here was amazing. I can't wait to go back someday. --Bring a book, a camera, maybe some music and a little picnic, and chill!
Nice place to hang out for a while, picnic with the family (4/5 BBQ are available)...when I went there, there was lot of art student from a nearby university (Washington U, I suppose, the campus is within walking distance from the park) trying to draw the former plant, while some teenagers were enjoying their skateboard...
I've been there to celebrate 4 th of July,it's the best place to see the fireworks! Also in a regular day it's a safe and nice park,if you have a kite that's the place to bring it! Parking is not always available. I recommend this place !
Gas Works Park is one of the best parks in Seattle. You can see the old gas work pipes while your kids play on a huge jungle gym. There is a huge grass hill in the middle with a winding path that goes up it. This is a great place to layout a towel and soak up the sun. Gas Works park is not usually very crowded. Also, if you come near the 4th of July, you can get the best view of the fireworks in town. Just be ready to share the view with at least 5,000 other people.
