Overview

With numerous fun-but-tacky tourist shops and the Alaskan Way Viaduct thundering overhead, it's a wonder any natives visit Seattle Waterfront. But the views are spectacular; the Bainbridge Island ferry leaves from Colman Dock; and the popular Summer Nights at the Pier concerts play at sublime Pier 62/63. The Seattle Aquarium and the Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center are also here. The old streetcar clangs along the length of the waterfront, and the green spaces of Myrtle Edwards Park take over from the concrete mayhem at the northern end.

I was travel to Seattle on business from Florida. I enjoyed the Seattle waterfront and took a one hour boat cruise. This is a must do in Seattle.

Our second trip to this lovely area of the country and will not be our last. The walks around the waterfront are nice just a little to busy for us. Still a great time, lots to see, great weather. Beautiful, green, and floral areas. Bring $$$ as this area is a little on the pricey side but well worth the visit.

The Seattle Waterfront is really pretty and clean. I went there in the morning and took a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island. It was just around $5 or so for the whole ride. It is the best way to look at Seattle skyline and waterfront from ferry deck.

I really enjoy the waterfront. Of course I live here. Everytime we take family from out of state here they love it as well. One of my family members currently volunter's at the Seattle Aqurium, and i ahve visited it many times. My favorite things to do down there are goign in all the little trinket shops and walking up to Pike Place Market. There are several great food places along the waterfront as well. At night when the sun is setting it is just beautiful!!!

First stop on our tripby Yahoo | 2007-02-27 15:48:49 |

We always make the waterfront our 1st stop (after we have checked into our hotel). We drop our bags and RUN for the waterfront and to have our 1st meal at Ivars. Sometimes we eat in the formal restaurant and sometimes the fastfood version. Depends on the time of day. Watching the seagulls and the Ferrys arrive and depart while we eat is fun. Even watched huge snowflakes once landing on the water - wild! If you eat at the "fast=food" version of Ivars, watch the sea gulls -they LOVE French Fries - just don't put one in your mouth for them to take - I saw a poor girl do this once (at her boyfriends urging) and she almost lost an eye - not safe. Shops are lost of fun on waterfront and just watching the world go by is fun. The Aquarium is open but under construction, but still lots of fun. The Sea Otters are really fun to watch at feeding time. Can't wait for them to finish construction - it was good before, now its gonna be great. Parking can be tricky and difficult. Ye Old Courisity Shop is fun. Take a roll of quarters for parking meters (unless they have finished installing new parking meeters). Have fun!

You must see!!!!by Yahoo | 2006-11-15 19:42:45 |

The waterfront is a must stop! When walking along the waterfront you acn sit there and watch the ferries come and go or you can just watch the people walk by. You can also look down into the water and see starfish and jellyfish! This place is a must stop when you are in Seattle!

Romanticby Yahoo | 2006-09-17 04:18:51 |

One of the more enduring images that I have about the Seattle Waterfront before my visit there is Kenny G playing his saxophone at one of the piers against the spectacular Seattle skyline at dusk. Absolutely romantic! For a city literally surrounded by water, a world-class waterfront is imperative to add romance to the city. I just loved walking along the waterfront while enjoying the ocean breeze, admiring the city skyline and shopping for souvenirs (don't miss the Old Ye Curiosity Shop!). Even the rumbling vehicles on the Alaskan Way Viaduct hardly bothers me.

My husband and I had visited Seattle a few times already and took in the harbour cruise and the underground tour. Great value and educational about the city. Later we enjoyed the fresh crab and mussels at Elliott's Oysterbar.

Wander the waterfront!by Yahoo | 2006-06-10 00:19:11 |

The Seattle waterfront has something for everyone. On my first trip to Seattle I was on my own most of the time. I filled an entire two days with the waterfront. You can visit the Aquarium, eat at Ivar's, roam around Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe, hop a Washington State Ferry for a cheap cruise to Bremerton or wherever you want to go, risk a heart attack with the Pike Hill Climb, watch a cheesy film about Mount St. Helens, buy all the bric-a-brac your heart desires, etc., etc. I could go on and on. The only thing you may get tired of is all the homeless out asking for handouts.
