Overview

On May 18th, 1962, the Namsan Cable Car was the first cable car to be built and operated in Korea. During the day you can enjoy the beauty of Seoul's surrounding landscape; at night you can experience the illumination of the bright lights below. Plan to visit an hour before sunset to get both panoramic views as you ascend and descend the city's most famous peak. You'll find both a restaurant and a cafe at the top.

Open Hours

Good way to get to the topby Yahoo | 2008-02-14 04:57:50 |

Seems to be only 3 ways to get to the Seoul Tower area. One by bus, another by walking, and the last by cable car. Cable car is a good option although the view isnt spectacular. Its convenient because I dont have to figure out which bus is going up there and where to wait for it. We just took a taxi to 'Nam-san cable car' and it was pretty easy to access. Got a 2 way ticket.

Brings back memoriesby Yahoo | 2008-01-29 18:39:41 |

It was during post-war Korea. The ride was very peaceful and quiet the further up you went.the atmosphere gave you a chance to reflect on life and family back home.

Slow rideby Yahoo | 2007-03-01 07:29:52 |

The ride is sooooo slow and the atmosphere in the car is a bit stifling. Since there is only one car and the ride is slow, the frequency is poor.

Nice Viewby Yahoo | 2006-11-29 05:46:34 |

This cable car ride up was a great view but can get costly. If you're trying to get to Seoul tower, you can actually take a bus or taxi most of the way. If you're into hiking you can climb stairs for most of the journey as well. If you want to experience the view, it is a nice one of North side of the River. Cost for a round trip ticket is 7000 wan.

The Cable carby Yahoo | 2006-03-28 02:58:30 |

I enjoyed the cable car ride up the Namsan Mt! Also I belive it was the first cable car in Korea! So there is a bit of history in the ride!

This cable car goes up Namsan mountain. It is actually used by Seoul natives rather than tourists, and has a certain charm as a result. You get a decent view, and a little swaying, all for a nominal fee. Kids will love it, as it does't go up too high or last too long.

Beautiful, and a great view of the city lights. Don't plan on having dinner at the tower though - very overpriced, mediocre food....
