Overview

Built in 1969, The Seoul Tower, located at the peak of Mt. Namsan is 370 meters tall. Seen from every corner of the city, it was originally built for the purpose of broadcasting television and radio signals. However, in 1980, the tower was opened to the public and has since become a favorite tourist attraction. From the observation tower, you get a panoramic view of the bustling city. The Seoul Tower complex also houses several exhibition halls. You can reach the base by cable car, car or by even hiking.

another tower...by Yahoo | 2008-03-20 23:00:09 |

meh, this is okay. you pay to take a cable car, then you pay to go up into the tower, which 9 times out of 10 there's a hazy view over seoul due to smog and fact that seoul is humid the majority of the time. if you've been to a tower before, it's absolutely nothing special. if you're going to be in seoul for a long time, it might be worth it in the winter, but for short periods of travel, especially in the summer, i recommend that you pass on this one. there are much better things in seoul to see and do.

Amazing view over looking the city of Seoul, that gives great persective on how enormous it is. The only let down was the Tower was under construstion at the time so I could only witness the view from the top of the mountain, but it was still so impressive.

What a view - don't miss this.by Yahoo | 2007-10-06 13:23:24 |

Seoul Tower is a must for anyone coming for a visit. Be sure to take the cable car up at sunset for a special. The view from the top is well worth the fee. The lights at night really give you a great view of just how large this city is and the beauty of the buildings and bridges.

It's SO Romantic - Must See this a Second Time!by Yahoo | 2007-08-24 01:26:03 |

My boyfriend and I thought the view was breathtaking, fun and educational at the same time. From any point, you can walk around, and see not only Seoul, but also know exactly how far away you are from all the major cities in the world. Plus, each window gives you a historical overview of the area. Tips: You don't need to get "sucked into" taking the cable car at the peak of the Tower. Just go to Myeong-dong station (very close) and take the cable car UP. We didn't see the point of taking it down from the mountain. Also, take a seperate day to visit the "Family Spots" and "Romantic Spots", these can't all be covered in one visit. And most important, BRING COMFY SHOES! It's very steep even for 200 meters to the actual entrance:)

Another Tower...by Yahoo | 2006-11-29 05:49:22 |

This is just a tower. The inside was completely re-done. Tottally a place for couples. For families its kind of exciting. But if you've been to the top of one tower, you've been to the top of them all. Go on a clear day, you'll get better pictures.

Temporarily Closedby Yahoo | 2005-07-05 14:49:56 |

Seoul Tower is temporarily closed. It should reopen late in 2005. Going up Namsan "mountain" by foot or cable car is still worthwhile.

seoul tower on a budgetby Yahoo | 2004-12-22 17:36:35 |

well its a nice tower. the top of namsan nountain has some pretty old korean artifacts like smoke chimneys from the old days of warning other places about impending invasions. but the tower is cool inside it has a restaurant, many gift shops, and on the top of it it has a revolving restaurant ( although i thought it looked like a diner with way overpriced meals). i would say go there just to check out the city from the tallest spot in seoul.
