Overview
Built by 13th-century Almohad rulers of Seville to control shipping along the River Guadalquivir, this attractive tower is within easy walking distance of the cathedral, Giralda Tower and Maestranza Bullring. There are a few legends that attempt to explain why it's called Torre del Oro (The Golden Tower). One says that the gold from the New World was stored here in the 16th and 17th centuries. Another claims that the Almohads originally covered its outer walls in golden tiles. The battlements on the upper part were added in the 18th century.beautiful seenBoat ridemildly interesting
nice torre..., u can enter it ang go around it by 1 euro ticket.....this place i was excited to visit it since i read the informatin and great history of this building...it is a key place to visit sevilla.. u should cisit it first..but early...beacause they close early
You can take a boat ride at the bottom of the Torre del Oro. I wouldn't recommend it. It's a waste of time since you are only going up and down the river without much to see. You're better off exploring the city near the cathedral.
It is located in a nice area of seville but that is the best thing about it. In fact, I dont remember too much about it. I would just order a coffee or a beer at a nearby cafe in sight of the Oro and watch the all the wonderful people passing by.
