Overview

Hazara is a name familiar to many locals tuned into Shanghai's wining and dining scene. A very popular eatery serving authentic Indian food, its reputation is also attributed to its innovative decor. The exotically beautiful surroundings consist of the dining area enclosed in an orange tent. Indian artifacts and antiques up the "wow" factor. The menu features standard Indian curries, tandoori meats and breads. Dishes are pricey but considering the quality, worth the high cost. Recommended is the leg of lamb in cardamom.

        Fabulous!by Yahoo | 2008-03-02 04:20:05 |

I loved everything about it...food, atmosphere, service, and location. Hazara is my favorite restaurant in Shanghai, and I really enjoyed the Face bar, too! I highly recommend this restaurant.

I am from Europe but live in Shanghai. I have spent 7 years in the UK, where the most popular food is Indian food; you find Curry Houses everywhere, even in small villages. So I tried dozens of places there with my boyfriend, who is Indian-British. Since we've been in Shanghai, we've tried the 5 most-recommended Indian restaurants (from blogs and various websites). All were just OK until we tried Hazara. A bit expensive (around RMB 80 to 120 for a meat dish) but it is worth it! Finally we have found our Curry Heaven! I hope you'll like it too. We have only used the take-away option so far so for Atmosphere and Service, I had to be fair and give an average mark. Hope to go there soon though.

        wonderful atmosphere but mid-class foodby Yahoo | 2007-09-25 16:17:24 |

The place offers a wonderful atmoshpere, very suitable for a candle-light dinner. The service team was quick, very attentive and friendly. Looking for vegetarian food in Shanghai I can only comment on the vegetarian menu. The menu offers a collection of the most popular vegetarian dishes - but the choice is quite limited. If you try Indian food for the first time the food may give a great experience. Being used to Indian food I would call it pretty plain standard food, find no special taste and in an Indian sense I would call it "not spicy". This is to be noticed in contrast to the high pricing which might be only justified by the excellent surrounding. Summarizing: go there for the beautiful atmosphere, enjoy the food - but if you're used to Indian food don't expect too much.

Wonderful food and wine list, great location in the middle of the Park, beautiful atmosphere. I enjoyed my romantic dinner with my boyfriend between exotic flavors. A little pricey but let's go back soon!

The food was without doubt the most tastiest indian food I have tasted in Shanghai, the service was with a smile although slightly slow, also as a very nice bar with a relaxing ambience.
