Overview

The St. Louis Science Center uses videos, computers and learning exercises to teach visitors about the wonders of science. Exhibit themes include outer space, stars, planets, the human body, animals, dinosaurs, gravity, weather, air currents, the earth and architecture. There are occasional science demonstrations, and the discovery room allows guests a place to take part in some hands-on learning. An Omnimax theater with a three-story movie screen shows educational films. Parking is available.

A great, free activity for kidsby Yahoo | 2008-07-29 15:07:06 |

Located in Forest Park, not far from the Zoo is the St. Louis Science Center. A great, fun free activity for kids filled with lots of interesting and fun interactive exhibits. APPROXIMATE ATTRACTION TIME: 5 hours PARKING: Free COST: Free main exhibit admission. Special exhibits cost extra. If you are a reciprocal science center member you can receive special exhibit & Discovery Room tickets for free as well. As I did not have a child under 7, we received Lego Mindstorm tickets free instead of the Discovery Room. FLIGHT SIMULATOR: Free exhibit in which kids get to control an airplane and fly it over St. Louis in a NASA type control room. While they ask that you limit your flight to 10 minutes when there is a line, no one times you. Included in the room are 2 jumbo screens on which 2 planes' flights are featured. If you sit in chair 6 or 7 you will get to be on the left and right screens respectively. LEGO MINDSTORMS: Kids get the chance to form teams, modify a robot then use the computer to program the robot to clean off a specific area on the game grid. The robots are placed on the game grid and turned on to test whose programming is better. This whole process takes 1 hour. The 1st 30 minutes is pretty boring while the MC explains everything but once they got to the hands on part, the kids seemed to really enjoy it. My son's team won their match. A Family Affairby Yahoo | 2007-08-25 06:05:18 |

A great place to spend time with the family. A good place to learn and have fun at the same time. They do a good job keeping the place clean and enjoyable for the whole family.

I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST AWESOME PLACES I'VE EVER BEEN TO. IT IS SO INTERESTING, AND EDUCATIONAL. I THINK ANYONE WITH CHILDREN SHOULD VISIT THIS PLACE, BECAUSE CHILDREN LOVE IT.

Doesn't open when advertised...by Yahoo | 2006-08-07 13:07:45 |

My family and I were staying in St. Louis for the weekend. We got up early in the morning on Sunday to get to the Science Center when it opened, so we could have a full day there. We got to the facility at 9:50 AM (their website said they opened on 10:00 AM on Sundays) to find out they don't open till 11:30. I was very disappointed. Also, their parking lot and grounds were littered and not very nice looking. My family and I went to the Botanical gardens (not far away) and had a great time there instead!

Great learning place!by Yahoo | 2006-07-23 04:54:23 |

Great place for the kids to learn about science. The displays and exhibits are informative and interactive. Check out the connecting bridge over the Interstate 64, and you can use the speed radar to see how fast the vehicles below you are moving. Great fun!

Science!! Science!!! Science!!!by Yahoo | 2005-12-27 00:47:45 |

I loved the science Center!! It's a great place for kids and adults! There are many things in science you can explore, including the solar system and weather! They have light shows that go on a couple times, and the Omnimax theater. The theater is a huge imax theater. The movies you see there of course are SCIENCE!!!! One problem is, if you plan to go there, you need money. But, the cost is worth it. I hope you choose to go there next time you visit St. Louis!
