I booked a table on the shore and was given a table at the back in the corner next to an open door where a marketing junket was being held. There was a table on the shore available but the surly waitress wouldn't let me have it. I booked a nice table for a birthday celebration and was so poorly treated, I believe they hear a foreign accent and think you're not coming back so treat you how they like. Well yes, we will not be coming back, but as Sydney residents at least we know there are plenty of other good restaurants. I urge you to visit one of those instead of this overpriced cash cow
My wife read somewhere that Doyle's is the place to eat while in Sydney. Unfortunately, when we arrived in the city, we forgot where their branches where located. While going on the Bondi Beach tour, we decided to take a stop near The Gap area and found what we were looking for...Doyle's on the Beach. The seafood (and service) was superb and truly deserving of all praises. The view of the beach and of Sydney's skyline can not be matched. Really the Best!
they were very clean plus they had plenty of room between the tables, this is very nice when have to meet with clients and you wouldn't want others to over hear your conversation. Food, service was excellent great selection, above all some nice name wines, impressed. i recommend it to all I do business with and as well as for a nice evening out with someone you want to impress.
it was so good and relaxing and good sewrvice and the people are nice. The view was grat and there was a lot of entertainment and lots of fun eating there.
Arrived Sydney airport in early hours, booked in Rocks hotel and tried to sleep. No chance. So remembered AU friend had talked of Doyles. Found details and took ferry from Circular Quay. The location was stunning, the seafood lunch exceptional, the staff friendly but not 'in your face', and the wine was well .... I am (not) ashamed to say NZ's 'Cloudy Bay'. Planning to go back this year but plan to cut out the middle man and stay at Doyles Palace Hotel. Derek and Janet.
Arrived after hours, as planned, but couldn't find the lock box for our keys (its located on the unobserved side of a column near the door). The night manager saw our party of 10 outside, and let us in. Great rooms, lots more room inside then expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. Dinner was expensive, but well worth it. Australia Day festivities were unexpected, but pleasant. The free community breakfast especially nice. Access to the ferry and bus made renting a car unnecessary, plus the hotel van could be arranged for trips.
Been to Doyles a number of times and have never had a below excellent experience. Great setting, food and value. Highly Recommended if visiting Sydney!
i recently visited with relatives in australia from the united states i had a wondeerful exprerience at doyles the food service and surrounding scenery was unbelievable i cannot wait to get back there
It is an experience! Jump on the water taxi at the opera house, and speed across Sydney Harbour to the restaurant for lunch. Beforehand, hit the pub next door, a popular watering hole with locals. Afterwards, a short walk up the hill brings you to the headlands and the open sea. Just fantastic! Wouldn't miss it when I'm in Sydney.
