Overview
Fourteen troubled years in the building, and AUD95 million over budget, the controversial sail-like roofs of Sydney's most recognizable icon glisten against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour. Danish architect Jorn Utzon has reportedly never laid eyes on his masterpiece, resigning in 1966 due to political difficulties and construction delays—it was finally finished in 1973. It now has an impressive yearly program of up to 3000 contemporary and classical performances and is a truly memorable place for theatre, opera and ballet. Various guided tours operate daily from 9a-5p.Upcoming Events Near Sydney Opera House

Sydney opera house the wonderfull places . Sydney opera house is the best places in Australia . Australia with opera house , nice beach and interessting music .
i love sydney opera house, the first and last time i saw it was last september, 2005 when i was able to visit australia, love the place, love the weather and people are kind, not discriminatory and happy! wish i could visit sydney opera house again........
It looks not that big from the outside, but when you go inside its very big. The main theater is unbelievably large. With other smaller theater areas in it too. A place you must go and see when you are in Sydney
i like its very nice and beautiful view i like it very much, i wanted to come again in sydney australia with my friends. i hope the beautiful view would never change.
THIS IS MY CITY I LOVE SYDNEY THE REST OF AUTRALIA IS NOT AS GOOD AS NEW SOUTH WALES!!! I AM A AUSSIE & PROUD OF IT!!!
Blue sky, nice water, modern tecnology in a package. Don't miss a boat trip. Visiting the opera at night is also a must. I hope be there again some day.
I went on the first tour of the day at the Opera House. It was great to see the inside and the tour guides are extremely knowledgable about the building and the shows. Since it is a working building not all areas are always open for tour and ironically I did not get to see the concert hall where the Opera performs. I did see three of the other venues: two theaters for plays and the largest of the concert halls. The tour only lasts an hour and if you can get a concession ticket(students, seniors) go for it. It will save you 50% off your ticket.
this place seems so amazing i'm doing a huge project and everything about this place seems wounderful we have to be travel agents and we are serving Mr. and Mrs. Toad i hope to one day go here and expirence the wonders just doing reaserch on it makes you long to go there!!!
My family visited the Australia in 2002. We started in Melbourne then to Surferes Paradise, (Cairnes), Canberra, then Sydney. Every place we visited was quite different. Melbourne is a working city with lots of industry and a very rich and cosmopolitan cultural center. Cairnes has a beautiful sandy beach that goes for miles and miles. We stayed with my wifes cousin on the coast outside fo Canberra. There are numerous zoos in the larger villages. I recommend a visit to one of them. My young daughters were allowed to go in with the roos and hand feed them. They also got to hold a baby Wombat. Sydney is the Jewell of Australia the Opera house is beautiful. From the area around the Opera House you can view the rest of the photo points of the city. I can't wait to go back and see other parts of the country.
I really enjoyed the tour...You'll get an inside scoop and view of the Opera House that random people will not get by just walking up to it and taking pictures. The interiors are getting 70's-ish, but I shouldn't knock it for that. This building is a masterpiece.
