Overview
This memorial is dedicated to the memory of Chiang Kai-shek, the former president of the Republic of China. Built five years after the leader's death, the memorial remains one of Taipei's most remarkable monuments. An impressive bronze statue of Chiang seated in a chair can be found on the upper floor of the memorial, while a museum is located on the ground floor. The museum exhibits photos of the late president and some of his personal possessions. The National Theater and Concert Hall are located directly across from each other on the grounds of the CKS Memorial Hall. Admission is free to all.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 09:00 AM to 06:30 PMthe place is big and clean. It is very convinent by subway. The place is great for pictures. PS- don't wear slippers or dress slovenly (they have a sign saying not wear them inside)
The Taiwanese are very respectful of CKS. The changing of the guards takes place each day. The area around the memorial is beautifully landscaped. And you are walking distance from the Handicraft Center. The theater and music hall are in the same area and they are impressive even without going inside. Go underneath the statue to see many more interesting things abour CKS.
Walking around the perimater was beautiful. Then seeing the entire structure takes you breath away. The inside of the Memorial is very tourist-friendly with english explanations under all pictures. Wax figuare of Chiang Kai-shek is a little creepy in the recreation of his office-not bad when your prepared! The top gallery with the statue and domed ceiling is unlike anything in North America-an absolute must see with a veiw that will make even the hardened heart emotionally overcome.
Beautiful monument that reminds me of the Lincoln Memorial, i.e., Chiang Kai-shek larger than life seated statue. Simply awe imspiring. Don't miss the changing of the guard - very impressive. Architecture is incredible, facility is very clean, and not crowded during our visit. Free too. Simply something you will want to see at least once when you to to Taiwan. A good resting point if you have been going hard on the tour route - make time to relax and enjoy this place. Beautiful country and wonderful people.
if you like the general (emperor wannabe), then this place is for you! but politics aside, the buildings are absolutely amazing, asthetically beautiful. i was in awe when i came out of the mtr station and the first thing i saw was this massive, beautiful, colorful Chinese architectural piece of work. I will never forget that impressive image.
It is a nice place to visit if you have time. I recently went back to Taiwan for 2 weeks and did not have time to revisit. There is just too much to do and too much to eat in Taiwan. If you plan on going for a month then perhaps you can visit the memorial. It is nothing fancy, just a nice memorial for Chiang Kai-Shek. It's one of those places you will not revisit once you've been there. It is definetely NOT a top priority in Taiwan. There is just too much to do.
I like this place because I love my country. In this place, you can enjoy the food, drinks, and the show to watch at night!!!!Also, in CKS, you will see lots of ancient chinese architect It's Awesome!!!!!
the memorial is really impressive ! clean, large, wide and all you want! It wasnt crowded at all when we got there. The fact you see how can those taiwanese people can do for only one person is unbelievable! you have to reach there if you're visiting taipei!
The architecture is beautiful. I greatly enjoyed the displays around the complex, as well as walking through the gardens.
This place is beautiful! It has an enormous garden with a huge pond and lots of huge koi! The statue is amazing, and watching the changing of the guards is really cool. And hey, it's free! Make it stop on your trip!
