Overview
When the Lightning began playing hockey in Tampa in 1992, quite a few residents were baffled by this fast, exciting sport. Since then, the Bolts have become one of Tampa's most popular past times with a state-of-the-art home at the Ice Palace. Games can get rowdy, as snowbirds try to cheer their home teams louder than the hometown fans. Games are usually in the evenings, but some afternoon games are scheduled on weekends and holidays. Tickets range in price from swank luxury box seats to nosebleeds.
The St. Pete Times Forum is a great place to watch a Tampa Bay Lightning game. the site-lines are perfect and there isn't a bad seat in the house. From the spacious AFS Club to the incredible XO Player's club there definetley isn't a shortage on cool areas to enjoy the action. The Lightning are heating up and putting themselves in position to make a run at the cup. I'll be there for the rest of the season, have fun everyone!
I love hockey. But for some reason the folks in Tampa weren't really into the game. They didn't constantly cheer for their team. This is the 3rd hockey stadium I've been to and usually (at any game) the crowd is involved. They weren't really involved unless the puck just missed the net or they scored a goal. And they weren't losing, they were killing their opponents, 4-1. So I felt a little bored. The stadium is great on the outside, but a real pain in the inside. It was hard to find where I needed to go. The hallways are very narrow. There wasn't a huge store to buy souvenirs either. Only small stands. My seat was ok, but as I looked around inside I realized . . . it's not very large at all. So in short, I've seen better.
