Overview

Tampa's Ybor City, began its intriguing history when cigar makers settled here after a disastrous fire that drove the industry north from Key West. Today it is a National Historic Landmark District lined with old buildings and historic sites. Today's Ybor is a lively and popular shopping, dining and entertainment district featuring everything from museums to flamenco dancing and of course, plenty of cigars. The area really comes alive when the sun sets with a bevy of nightlife options. Do not miss the annual Halloween Parade, known as the Mama Guava Stumble or Guava-ween!

disapointedby Yahoo | 2008-04-10 03:01:41 |

back after four years gone. Sorry to see that so many shops have closed and there is nothing happening any more down there. Was disappointed in some of the shops and the eating. Since this is one of the historic areas in Tampa. Will continue to tell people to check it out. Hope that it improves soon.

It has a feel like your in the French Quarter in New Orleans,Absolutley great atmosphere! Full of young friendly people and cheap places to eat and hang out. The architecture is awesome and there is a lot of history there you can experience in the day and at night it is transformed into the place

I was disappointed in Ybor City based on what I heard about it. Club Parana and Tampa Bay Brewing Company were pretty cool but besides that I felt like I was in the ghetto. I would recommened Clearwater any day of the week over this

We'll be going back again it was a lot of fun and lots of things to doby Yahoo | 2007-02-11 23:51:15 |

Awesome place to visit!!!by Yahoo | 2006-12-30 15:06:17 |

I went there for the Italian Festival, and it was amazing!!! The food was outstnding, and there were performers that flew in from Italy!! It was very inexpensive to get in, around $5 or so. Lots of activities for kids as well as adults. Also be sure to visit Gameworks, a place where everyone can have a blast!!

Scary Scary sectionby Yahoo | 2006-07-28 02:36:49 |

Drove through Ybor city and could not tell if I was driving through the ghetto or a landmark. Eventually found Ybor central bbut it was not easy, many closed roads and one ways, Not a safe place!

Ybor is my second home. It's family-friendly during the day and THE best clubs in Tampa at nighttime. Code is aweomse, Prana has variety... and there are always new places opneing up.

Best Time of my Life!by Yahoo | 2006-04-27 16:17:21 |

Absolutley great atmosphere! Full of young friendly people and cheap places to eat and hang out. The architecture is awesome and there is a lot of history there you can experience in the day and at night it is transformed into the place to be for the college kids of Uni of Tampa and USF.

Unique, 1 of a kind, funby Yahoo | 2006-04-25 20:56:38 |

There's no place else like Ybor City. The aroma of roasting coffee and Cuban Cigars. This multi ethnic community is a blast right out of the 1930's. The best restaurants in Tampa are all located right there on 7th Ave., The main street. People were friendly to a fault and we recommend a visit any time, night or day. There is always something going on. If you want a real Tampa experience have a Cai pirinah at Gaspar's Grotto and say 'hi' to the world's most famous cat that lives there. His name is Tanker Ray. Ybor City Rocks!!!

Going back again!!by Yahoo | 2006-03-05 16:22:25 |

We found this place by accident and had a great time. It is a little cultural area in Tampa with lots to do. It has a movie theater, comedy club, shops, restaurants and lots of nightclubs lining the streets for about 6 blocks. We ate at Adobe Gila's in an open air second story circular bar/restaurant. It had great atmosphere looking over the streets and wonderful food and margarita's. Everthing is in walking distance and well lit streets so we were comfortable walking around to the different nightclubs. We did notice lots of security and police during the later hours because I guess the place was a little rough a couple of months before, but we didn't notice any troubles. Can't wait to go back, our favorite nightclubs were Coyote Ugly and the Green Iguana.
