Walk the corridors of the Tampa Bay Hotel, now a museum and a National Historic Landmark, and experience a stroll through time when exquisite art, elegant furnishings and opulent grandeur conveyed the image of the Gilded Age. Built in 1891, the hotel, with its Moorish architecture and spiraling minarets, was created as a resort for the rich and affluent. Reservations needed for groups of 10 or more. Parking is free in front of the building and in a nearby parking garage.

Great piece of Archt.by Yahoo | 2007-02-13 00:32:36 |

I loved visiting this museum for my short stay in Tampa. I went on a day when it was nice out side so after walking through the museum I had a change to walk the grounds. I only wished that the museum would permit people to take photographs inside.

WOW!by Yahoo | 2006-09-26 01:25:50 |

My hubby and I visited the Henry B Plant Museum last week for the first time. It was amazing! We were both impressed from the moment we pulled up! The museum staff was very friendly and informative. The pretour documentary was very interesting. The rooms were set up so neat! I love victorian decor and the gift shop is a dream! This visit was the highlight of our trip to Florida. We will definitely go back. The $5 donation is WELL worth it!

It's my second home!by Yahoo | 2006-04-08 00:41:55 |

I love the Plant Hotel. I go to the University of Tampa, so I get to see it every day. And let me tell you, it never gets old. I go almost every day, even when I don't have class! Its a beautiful place to be...Go to the museum because it really puts things into perspective, but I would argue that just being there in the quiet is one of the most peaceful and relaxing things you can do. It's like a whole new world in there, and like I said, it never gets old. It is incredible to learn about it...in fact, the University is celebrating 75 years, and their celebration is going to kick off in October of this year...anyone who's interested in the history of the hotel and how it came to be the University of Tampa should keep a close eye on the website for the University, as they will be outlining the history and the growth of UT throughout the last 75 years. It (the tour) doesn't cost much and its totally worth the time it takes to come and see the living history that is the Tampa Hotel

Great Victorian period antiquesby Yahoo | 2005-09-18 14:13:06 |

Beautiful archetecture and furnishings. A must see for anyone interested in the Victorian period and/or the Spanish American War. A Walk down the corridor made me feel like I was in 1891.

Would love to return & show it to anyone I knowby Yahoo | 2005-08-15 17:06:06 |

It is a wonderful recreation of the 1891 Victorian era and has very exquisite furnishings. It very effectively puts one into feeling a part of that period. The videos about the hotel are very good. Guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. There are some very unique Victorian furnishings. At the time I was there, there was a display of American cut crystal which was fantastic. There was also a wonderful video about how that glass was created. This is the most interesting Victorian era museum I have ever experienced.
