and by multimedia, I mean food, drink, theatre, art, music and the time of your life! Formed in the early 1990's by three different theatre companies who needed their own venue to show original stage productions, Telakka has grown into a cultural phenomena of international proportions. The ground floor is a reaturant/music perfomance space, the second floor a painting/photographic gallery and the third floor a 100+ seating theatre where oringal plays, dance perfomances and stand up monologes are delivered wit a uniquely Finnish flavor. Built in a World War One era wharehouse, that also served as a field hospital during the Finnish Civil War, Telakka also hosts various African music and culture festials, as well as touring Euorpean bands and provides a welcome safe haven for expatriates of all countries who find themselves in Tampere.
