Overview
This museum is located in a centuries old, former Ottoman administrative center. This building, it turns out, is quite new relative to Jaffa's long history. The cavernous space is lined with display cases of artifacts testifying to the long succession of empires that once ruled the city, from pottery shards of the 5th century BCE, to Arabic coins of the Ottoman period. Indeed, an entire room is devoted to showcasing the coins of the region. Special attention is paid to documenting the Jewish presence in Jaffa. There are changing exhibitions as well, on different aspects of Jaffa's history.Almost all the material is translated into English. Admission is NIS 10 for adults; 5 for students/ seniors/ youths.
