Overview

Spectacular, staggering, stupendous and astounding are just a few adjectives that describe this Great Wall. Construction under the motto of "If one man guards the pass ten-thousand are unable to get through" first began in 556 during the Ming dynasty. This section stretches for 25 miles and features parapets, watchtowers and fire-pits. Though it lies 105 miles north of Tianjin it grades as one of the city's biggest attractions. And better yet crowds are much smaller than those that swarm the Great Wall areas near Beijing. Buses from Tianjin run on weekends.
