Overview

The Shinjuku Gyoen Imperial Garden mixes Western and Eastern influences in its layout with English, French and conventional Japanese pond-style gardens. It also has quaint tea ceremony houses and a greenhouse with a considerable collection of tropical plants. It is most famous though for its 1500 cherry blossom trees which in early spring paint the whole place with different hues of pink.

cheap, easy to find and a very beautiful and relaxing place.

A beautiful place for weekendby Yahoo | 2006-10-14 17:24:01 |

I visited Shinjuku Gyoen in Marth, the month of cherry blossom, the most famous flower of Japan. In this time, sakura is full of park. You will wallow in sakura. If you were in Tokyo in spring, you can not forget visiting here

Great Parkby Yahoo | 2006-04-18 00:41:37 |

This is a great park right in the center of town. It has nicer trees and open area's than Yoyogi Park. Fantastic place to see Cherry Blossoms in Spring.

Worth your timeby Yahoo | 2006-02-07 04:51:41 |

I almost missed this garden as I had been to several others and read that it had Western gardens (didn't need to see as I am a westerner) but at the last minute decided to go and was very happy that I did. It is much bigger than most of the intimate traditional gardens throughout the city but still has beautiful plantings and design. I was there for the chrysthanthemum festival which was a great treat and I will be back for the cherry blossoms. If I could only see one garden this would not be the one but it is certainly worth a visit. Allow at least a couple of hours if you like gardens.

A peaceful haven in Shinjukuby Yahoo | 2005-05-23 19:54:41 |

A beautiful garden right in Shinjuku, with lots of space for walking, picnicking, and relaxing. Includes formal European and Japanese gardens. If you're there in late March/early April, don't miss the cherry blossoms!
