Overview

Features of this temple are the two statues of notable Buddhist figures. One is the bronze Jizo statue (Buddhist protector of children) adjacent to the main gate. To the rear stands the Emma statue (Hell King). The Hell King's role is purported to be to scare children who misbehave. Perhaps because his garments are Chinese, it is debatable whether his presence has had much effect on Japanese children! Admission: Free

Taisoji Temple was great! I even liked watching the Seiko Watch Clock across the street play for ~2 minutes on the hour. The men pulling the buggies were a nice touch. The cost was a bit more than I would have wanted to pay for only 10 minutes. On the way to the temple were shops & many photo opportunities!! My friend & I, two moms, toured this location with our 6 total kids, ages 8 months to 9 years old. We all enjoyed it! For an ATM that dispenses yen (since the small shops only accept yen..no credit cards), we went to 7-Eleven across the street from the front entrance.
