A must-visit for any history buffby Yahoo | 2008-09-24 15:14:05 |

Casa Loma is a must-visit for anyone who loves castles and/or history. The audio tours are a great asset, letting you tour whatever part of the castle you wish. The video at the beginning gave me some insight into Sir Pellatt, which helped me a lot. I would highly recommend going up into the towers; it is a neat view of downtown.

Casa Loma was really nice. Audiotour is free and very informative...not too long. It helps to understand the history, which makes the whole experience better. We watched the movie and took a much needed rest, it was interesting. be sure to climb the steps to the tower and travel the 800 foot tunnel. We thought the deli was fine, (about $5 for a club or reuben). (Hotdog/ice cream stand is out on the patio). Including lunch and the time spent in the garden we spent between 3-4 hours here. We walked from the sub-way stop, it was kind of a hike. Might take a taxi or drive next time. Be sure and stop for Ice cream at Greg's. On the Corner of Spadina and Bloor. Try the roasted Marshmallow flavor!! FYI ---there is no air conditioning.

Enjoyable visitby Yahoo | 2008-07-13 11:29:16 |

Thoroughly enjoyed learning and discovering the story behind Casa Loma. As I am a gardener and amateur photographer it was paradise for me. The gardens surrounding the castle were of course my favorite part. My husband and I climbed the stairs in the turret for a fantastic view of the city below. Have to admit that we were surprised at the amount of litter and graffetti we saw up there. I would think with price of admittance someone could be hired to clean the area.. I do feel that the admission price limits some people, especially those with large families from visiting. All in all, we had a wonderful visit and would highly recommend it to anyone who plans to visit Toronto. Would not recommend it to those with smaller children as I don't think they would understand nor care about the history of the castle. Denise, Michigan

fantastic castleby Yahoo | 2008-01-30 04:32:19 |

Liked everything about it except the food at the deli.Well mantained and very informative.I went in the middle of winter and when I went inside it was warm and comfortable. I would have liked to hear the organ play but do not know if they do that.I would love to come back when the gardens are open.

2nd timeby Yahoo | 2007-08-13 03:32:07 |

My parents took me to see Casa Loma in the late 70's. I was so excited to go back to Casa Loma now with a family of my own. My daughters loved Casa Loma. It was a different experience because of the audio guide and since then many movies have been filmed in Casa Loma. My daughters wanted to move in. Lots of secret passages, beautful views and gardens. Plan on going early and spending a couple of hours on the tour. We went during the first week of August so remember that this castle has no air condition. You will find restrooms. There is a cafe on the lower level if you get thirsty or a little hungry. Take a camera. A must see if you are in Toronto.

A feast for the sensesby Yahoo | 2007-05-14 17:22:59 |

It was a short hike from the subway stop, but the grounds and gardens are immaculate. Plenty of photo opportunities before you even enter Casa Loma. We were offered the audio assistance/tour, but declined when we realized it would take an entire afternoon. Viewed the rooms on our own, took many photographs. The conservatory and library are the most memorable rooms. In lower level a cafeteria is available for refreshments and seating. We took advice and followed the underground tunnel to the horse stable. It was scenic, but we quickly returned to the main building and made our way outside to the gardens. Benefitted from gorgeous weather, enjoyed the gardens and the gazebo for photo ops. Many varieties of flowers and ornamentals. A bride was having her photograph taken, added to the magic of the scenery.

THE BEST!!!by Yahoo | 2007-01-08 15:53:01 |

I think my title speaks for itself lol. Seriously me and my posse enjoyed this very much. The Castle was absolutely huge and spacious. I wanted to move right on in lol....but that's not allowed tho lol. One of the things that made it even more fun was the secret passages u get to tour...those made me very jealous cause i don't have secret passages in my house lol. Nah it's a great grea great attraction to see when touring around Toronto. COOL!!!!!

one of a kindby Yahoo | 2006-11-29 23:31:56 |

it was amazing to see this giant castle in the middle of a major city. we took the audio tour which was really interesting. it was incredible to see all the rooms and secret passageways. going to the very top is a little hard if you are clastrophobic because the stairs are very winding narrow... however, it is worth the view.

Terrific!!by Yahoo | 2006-08-13 01:31:44 |

It was really cool. get an audio set and you'll get to know alot of cool things of the castle. there is a really cool under ground tunnel that leads to lots of places. also there's an im complete pool that was going to have golden swans around them.

For Loveby Yahoo | 2006-08-04 18:24:27 |

This castle was built out of love. The sad part is that his wife died before the completion of his work. It holds many History, including the Canadian Military. The grand hallways, and beauty are breathtaking. Go up in the tower to have a beautiful view of the city including the CN tower. The price is fair and goes towards the historical society of Toronto to maintain the castle. Wonderful gardens and chapel ideal for weddings and photography. The historical value is often admired by school classes and gives the children a rare glimps into the victorian era of Toronto.
