Overview

This second hand shop is an oasis of the funky, the retro and the cheap amid a desert of the brand-spanking new, the relatively dear and the shiny of Vancouver's Downtown shopping Mecca, Robson Street. Let the heavy bass or disco thread you downstairs to this grand vintage lover's dream. Sift through the racks of nostalgia-inducing gear while rubbing shoulders with city glam. The staff, though young and painfully hip, is nevertheless attentive.

Jennifer Prochazka's Reviewby Yahoo | 2008-03-01 18:23:54 |

I absolutely love it. There is no other store that is around THAT I KNOW OF that's anything like this anymore, and these clothes are practically impossible to find elsewhere. The atmosphere is sweet, when you walk in and they're playing ELO. You never want to leave. together @ nexopia ;)

How a vintage shop should be.by Yahoo | 2008-01-08 12:29:45 |

Great shop! What I loved about this place is the fact that the dresses can be found by decade. Which goes to show that people here know a little about the clothes, instead of just hanging stuff on too crowded racks. Also there's just A LOT to see. Which is inspiring. I bought a fantastic 60's dress for a good price. One little thing about the new, vintage inspired brand that is available; I bought a very cool T-shirt that shrunk terribly even after wool-wash. That wasn't very good value for money. My boyfriend bought a really cool jacket. Next time in Vancouver, we'll definately stop here! Myrte

Would love to go back! But a little expensive-by Yahoo | 2008-01-08 04:35:51 |

I loved True Value Vintage! It had everything for all the different eras, and the quantity was enormous! Also, the clothes weren't stained or soiled or anything, most of them were in really great condition. My only problem was that the prices were kind og expensive. If you searched through the racks you could find some really good deals. But most of it was a little bit on the expensive side. I can't wait to go back, and this time I'll be prepared, I'm saving up so I can add some really cool and funky pieces to my closet!

I'd definitely go back...by Yahoo | 2007-12-30 05:45:04 |

I like how chill the atmosphere was, the people who worked there were really helpful and didn't try and over sell you. They had an awesome variety of clothes (old and new) The downfall was that I purchased a pair of jeans for $80 and I saw the exact same ones later that week at a store for almost half the price...my impression of the store was somewhat soured.

Love it!by Yahoo | 2007-10-21 17:52:07 |

Love everything about it! Its a great place to just go and look. You're almost always going to find something you just have to buy!!

overhyped and overpricedby Yahoo | 2007-03-13 05:22:32 |

True Value Vintage really is a funky little place. However, the vintage items sold there are horrendously overpriced, and the pricing has steadily gotten worse over the last few years. Most of the items there (with the exception of the newly-made designs which are beautiful) are not worth half the amount the are sold for, catered to the growing "trendiness" of vintage clothing. Vintage shopping is half about the hunt, so I suggest finding some real "true value" at any salvation army or value village, it is worth it!

Favorite Store in the worldby Yahoo | 2007-03-02 04:58:30 |

I would live there if I could. This store is amazing. The people are cool. I love how there is a used/vintage clothing section that is super cheap and they also have new vintage clothes as well. I love it because I have small feet so I can actually find shoes that fit me here.

My favourite clothing shops!by Yahoo | 2007-02-20 16:49:08 |

When I look at my wardrobe, I notice that all my favourite pieces are from True Value Vintage. Although they have a very interesting selection of vintage clothes, what I am talking about is the lines of indie designers that they recently brought in - such as Zachary's Smile - their in-house designer who incorporates pieces of vintage fabrics into contemporary yet vintage-inspired designs. What I love about those designers is their edgy, original style that I define myself with. I know it's dangerous to come in to True Value Vintage, because I always find something that I like - something that is at once sassy, original, stylish, classy and, well - practical! The staff is friendly to adults and children alike. Which is a big plus for me, because I usually go shopping with my little fashionista daughter. She can freely run around, play dress up, or just relax on the comfy couch sucking on a smoothie while I try on clothes. I am proud to be a Vancouverite, and I am proud that such a fantastic store is in my town, so that I can dress to my taste while supporting independent fashion designers.

the best store ever!by Yahoo | 2007-01-21 06:48:32 |

I LOVE THIS PLACE....there's so many amazing things, especially dresses, jeans, and jewellry..there isn't anything wrong with it-they even play good music and the salespeople are really cool..if you haven't gone, GO.
