Overview

Situated 24 kms south east of the city, a visit to this park makes for a pleasant afternoon. There are approximately 200 Buddhist and religious images dating back over 500 years, most of which were introduced from India. At one end of the park is the Savan where the spirits of good people are known to reside and bring harmony to the land. The best way to reach the park is to take bus number 14 from the main bus station. Tell the driver where you are going and he will let you off at the right stop.

Worthwhile visit outside the cityby Yahoo | 2009-01-16 14:58:30 |

It's about 25Km outside the city. We took a tuk-tuk. Paid the driver 200 000 kip (he waited more than an hour and took us to a temple afterwards and waited there too - 4 hours in all). Entrance fee 5000 kip pp (+3000 kip for the camera!) - about $1.5 for the 2 of us. It's about 3 acres of sculptures in concrete of the buddha and a variety of mythical creatures. There's a reasonable restaurant there (we had a good sized portion of fried rice with chicken and a beer for 34000kip). Good views across the Mekong to Thailand. We were pleased to find something out of the city - there's really next to nothing in Vientiane itself to see; once you've been up the monument (unremarkable) and visited the temples mentioned in Lonely Planet (none of the others cater for tourists anyway), you've done it!

Nice Place!by Yahoo | 2008-06-04 00:57:45 |

It was a pretty cool place, and interesting view of Thailand from across the river. The only thing was it was quite a far ride from the middle of town and the last half was very dusty, recommend taking a car instead of tuk-tuk if you can! Other than that it was neat and i got some really cool pictures of Buddha that you can't find anywhere else.

Fun but not very historicalby Yahoo | 2007-09-21 04:29:03 |

It is a fun trip outside the city, made it on a moto with a friend. The park houses sponsored sculptures of numerous Buddhist and Hindhu deities. Fun and good picture opportunity. Try to arrive early or late as it is out in the open and can be very hot.

The sculptures are very interesting and the hole atmosphere has a very mystical vibe. Its a little bit of drive outside the city but is definitely worth checking out.
