Overview

There are dozens of aircrafts here, everything from the Wright Brothers' Flyer and Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis to World War II planes and Apollo 11. In the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater at National Air and Space Museum you can view one of the ever-changing films on the five-story screen. After the film, you can touch a moon rock or visit the original Star Trek model of the Enterprise. Educational exhibits introduce the ideas of aerodynamics to children and track the influence of flight technology on our culture.

      Make a point of seeing this Museum!by Yahoo | 2009-06-08 00:25:39 |

We thought we'd just "run through" this museum. But there is so much to see. This was our favorite museum. The history of flight, the NASA exhibits...a must see!

      A day high in the sky.by Yahoo | 2008-04-25 07:20:27 |

This was a spur of the moment think. We were downtown and just went. It was free to get in but you did have to pay to see the show in the theater. But there is so much for you to see so not going to the theater was not a big thing for us. They have every type of flying thing you can think of. From Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis" to Apollo 11 space ship. They have bipedal flying machines and "Spirit of Texas" Chopper, Skylab (that you can go into), Wright Brother flying machine, missles, outspace suits, tools, moon buggies, and moon rocks. There is even a moon rock that you can touch. If you preteen loves Star Trek or SG-1 then this is the place for him. Highly recommend it, well worth the time.

      It is awesome!by Yahoo | 2007-12-13 00:46:31 |

I thought it was terrific because of the airplanes. I love airplanes. Also there are spacecraft and activities! For example, you can test the difference between propellers and rocket engines in simulated outer space. It made me feel amazed because of all the terrific aircraft hanging from the roof and because of how elegantly they were placed.

      One of my favesby Yahoo | 2007-11-20 05:24:00 |

This a very interesting and fun place to visit. It is interactive and you could spend hours and hours in here. My only advice is to avoid the weekends and go early to avoid quite large crowds. Awesome Awesome Awesome!!!

      Wonderful museumby Yahoo | 2007-08-29 03:55:24 |

I found this museum to be one of the best I have ever been to. There is so much to see, so much information on space and aeronatics, and the airplanes hanging overhead add so much to the excitement of the museum. I have been there 3 times over the years, and it's always a new experience when I go. I highly recommend it for all ages. They have interactive areas for kids.
